Ate a family Sunday lunch here but slightly disappointed as heard many good things about the Ainsty Group so had hoped to see a big improvement since my last disappointing visit here a few years ago - meals average at best, although my beef was nice & tender - dining room really in need of a revamp! A brighter colour... More

My partner and I have just got back from spending 2 nights at The Chequers which we really did enjoy. It's based in a very quiet location so we got 2 very peaceful nights sleep. The evening meals were some of the nicest food I have had in a long time. The first night we had a 3 course meal,... More

The second time we have been in the past month. On a quiet late February Tuesday night, a lovely log burner going, and two of my favourite ales on tap. We came for the pancakes on pancake day. Quite easily the best I've ever had. Lovely staff too. A thumbs up.

The food was not as good as before Christmas, the standard was poor. We were very disappointed. The choice on each course was not as varied. Waiter did not know if the 'salted caramel tart' was chocolate he had to ask someone. It was chocolate coloured.

Cute, old wordly pub which serves traditional hearty food. Reasonably priced. Food quality good, portion size reasonable although we did have to ask for more vegetables. Staff friendly and obliging.

Welcome to The Chequers, Bilton-in-Ainsty. Located on the outskirts of York and a short drive from Harrogate and Leeds we are a country pub with accommodation.

With rolling hills on one side of the pub and a chocolate box village on the other, you're nestled in the perfect location to enjoy a tipple, dine in our restaurant or stay the night in one of our three letting rooms.

With a roaring log burner in the winter and a beer garden overlooking rolling hills in the summer we are truly a pub for all seasons. Offering traditional 'pub grub' served to a high quality along with dishes with a more contemporary twist we make sure our customer service matches the high standard of the food.

Serving a from a lunch menu in the day with some lighter bites we move to an evening menu from 5pm onwards. Sundays at The Chequers offers you a traditional Sunday lunch from midday till 8pm.
