Bruks is one of my favourite coffee shops in York. It's high up in my top 10. Tucked away down Peter Lane it's off the beaten track but is always busy! The coffees are made with ground coffee beans & are much nicer & better value for money than the ones from the various chains. The girls are always friendly... More

Walked into Bruks with a pram and was immediately offered a table with space to store it as well as the option of a high chair. Service was polite and swift, the coffee and sandwich were lovely. When my son needed to feed, a member of staff spotted use and brought over some water for me and offered extra cushions... More

We've been coming to York for years and never spotted this lovely little coffee shop. Apparently it's quite recently moved to this location. It's small but lovely inside. We had a full English breakfast which was delicious and I called back later to take out 2 pieces of chocolate cake, also delicious. Will definitely revisit this. Service also very good... More

I've known about this place for years but not visited. However, on our way between two Costas, my daughter decided it was worth giving it a go. I am very glad we did. This is a small but perfectly formed little café, and we enjoyed our coffees and breakfast sandwiches very much. They even managed to get the many alterations... More

We stayed near this little cafe and called in on our first morning (hungover) for some breakfast. The ladies who work there are so kind, my friend was craving a milkshake and she was not disappointed. The breakfast was scoffed in minutes and it was so fresh and fulfilling! An absolute gem of a find.

Came across this hidden oasis just by chance. Good job we were hungry because the food is excellent and there are a lot of options for Veggies too! Seriously, a welcoming smile, lovely ambiance and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommended.

Heard bout this café on the bus , it's tucked away . no advertising around I didn't know it existed. Nice tables & chairs . pleasant staff. Food cooked to order . nicely served but quite pricey.

York is replete with the 'usual suspects' if you are looking for a coffee shop but if you are looking for an independent then go find this one; it is well worth the effort. It is near the town centre but you'll need to seek it out. Find Samuel's in Market Street and with Samuel's behind you walk into the... More

Went for lunch at 2pm. The woman serving said they had run out of soup and offered various other options but told me the whole menu was available. Eventually the woman returned and when I selected an item from the main menu she told me they didn't have it! So I ordered an alternative and a hot drink. She didn't... More

Hi Claire ,I am the owner of Bruks and also the "woman" who served you , I remember you ask me for a soup which we had run out of after a busy lunch you then asked me for a fish finger sandwich which I explained straight away that I have had to take off the menu as one of... More
