Don't forget it's also open for lunch, same food, slightly cheaper, or a lighter dish such as a galette. The food is so wholesome as well as tasty.

Also open for morning coffee, breakfast, brunch between 10.30am and 12!! Yes, it's true, many see the label restaurant and think evening meal! We are so much more - shop, deli, cafe.... open from 10.30am (9.30am on Saturday!) More

Recently have had two stunningly good Christmas Meals at French Living. Impossible to fault. Absolutely delicious food, beautifully presented. Delicious fairly priced house wines. Staff delightful. Service good and attentive, despite being very busy. Already looking forward to another meal there. The pre theatre menu is excellent value.

Still the only, real authentic French cuisine in Nottingham. All the tastes and smells you'd expect; close your eyes and listen to the staff speaking French and you could be sitting in a restaurant in France. We all had the Menu de Fêtes which was superb. I take my hat off to Stéphane, who after 20+ years has kept to... More

Thank you. I will pass on your praise to Stephane who refuses to read TripAdvisor. In the early days, it was very difficult to keep on believing and stay firm to our mission. However, as time went on, with a wonderful loyal following who quickly understood our authenticity, it became easier to stay true to French Living. More

The standard was as good as ever .The ambience was lovely and the service friendly. This is such an authentic restaurant .So much better than the chains .Sometimes it gets it wrong but most of the time it hits the spot.Really tasty French food and sensible portions .Also a very good place to buy cheese . Thank you Roger and Sara! Getting things wrong makes us human, real, true....it's how we deal with the mistakes that matters. I am always striving to ensure we get things right first time, but when things do not go to plan, I sincerely hope you are looked after and still leave with a big smile on your face. More

French Living might not be the most catchy name for a restaurant, but it is strangely appropriate because this restaurant probably provides one of the most authentic French everyday eating experiences outside France in my opinion. I suppose the fact that I have now eaten in French Living three or four times gives an indication of how much I like... More

Wow, what a wonderful review! Many thanks. Let me briefly share our history (we have been around since 1994!) This will help explain the origins of our name. In 1994, my Corsican husband Stephane and I, opened a little shop called French Living, selling everything to do with food from France - promoting the French lifestyle, the French way of... More

We have visited this restaurant irregularly over about 5 years. It is in an area of high competition and it has remained our pre-theatre favourite, until today. We had booked in advance and on arrival the patron was unsmiling and offhand. The waitress was good, the soup was good, and the wine was good. However, the steak was overdone and... More

Very sorry to hear of your experience. I do hope you called over Annabelle and asked for your steak to be cooked again to your liking. Unlike the competition surrounding us, our chefs are chefs (not microwave operators) who sometimes make cooking errors, but who are also ready to quickly put them right, adapt a sauce to your liking, add... Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without meeting at French Living for the festive menu. We were welcomed like old friends by the charming owner Stephane and served a leisurely meal allowing us time to chat and enjoy the wine and ambience. What a great find, managed to fir us n on a busy Saturday night. Whilst the service seemed a little disorganised to start it did get better throughout the night and was always friendly and helpful. Fantastic food would certainly return

Ooh you've jogged the memory of that Saturday night! We had some staff shortages in the kitchen due to illness, which pushed Stephane, my husband and owner, into the kitchen. I'm actually relieved we got away with "a little disorganised!" So, so delighted we returned to our usual flow as the evening progressed and you had a wonderful night. Thank... More

We called here for a Pre Theatre meal as we couldn't get into our "usual" place for a meal, and we are so glad we did , as the food was delicious, well cooked and presented and the staff so welcoming and friendly. We ate off the Pre Theatre menu which was excellent, and we shall certainly go there again,... More

A family owned brasserie in a French provincial town...Nottingham! Since 1994, this delicious Gallic haven, presided by charismatic Corsican Stephane Luiggi, has created a tiny piece of France in the centre of Nottingham. Today it's a thriving, bustling restaurant on two floors, with a ground floor dining area for up to 40 customers boasting a unique Deli Corner, offering farmhouse unpasteurised cheese, wines from small growers, French grocery essentials, as well as some rare brocante finds. A large red-bricked basement room, for up to 44 diners, is reminiscent of Toulousain restaurants, La Ville Rose, where Stephane met his Nottingham-born wife Louise. The dishes and menus are typical of a French bistro; simple, classic recipes, all home-made from fresh ingredients. Stephane and Louise aim to serve meals that make the French feel at home, and the British remember their holidays. Authenticity, combined with a desire to share French culture, to pass on knowledge, from translations to the hidden gems of Corsica, makes French Living a truely unique, warm and memorable experience.
