Very good fish and chips and good pub atmosphere and was supposedly used in the filming of Inspector Lewis and Inspector Morse BBC shows. Prices are reasonable. Pub is located near Oxford Visitor Information Center, Trinity College and the Bodleian Library so it attracts both locals and tourist and fills up rather quickly.

Ideal for a light lunch during a city walk. Beautiful interior, good choice of beers, tasty food and friendly service. Follow the footsteps of inspector Morse and enjoy the atmosphere.

A small intimate pub - can be a bit crowded. Welcoming staff, great beer and wonderful pub curries! I would highly recommend this place.

Hello Mike and thank you so so much for your kind review. We are so happy you enjoyed your visit. We do listen to our customers and are thrilled that we think we have got it right. We are a traditional pub and not a restaurant or gastro pub as some are called. We offer a simple but varied choice... More

This is a small, vibrant pub. They serve traditional food, very reasonable prices. The quality is very good. Would recommend for a casual meal out.

Its so small , has atmosphere and with a position to die for on Broad street with the bookshop literally all around it in every direction . I like the service but the bigger factor for me is the great ambience and the proximity to some of Oxford's visitor highlights .

Called in on a Saturday lunch time and was lucky enough to get a table just as people were leaving. It is rather squashed but then it is very small. Atmospheric pub, staff friendly. I had a chicken Caesar salad, which was OK, but they gave me some bread & butter, I think because they had run out of parmesan... More

Hello Thank you for your review. I'm sorry you did not enjoy your meal. I'm sure if you asked a member of staff they could have easily rectified this. We have lots of Parmesan and croutons we make fresh so we do have the ingredients. Bread is always given with salads. Please do come back soon and as an apology... More

Perfect for having dinner before you take the late (and cheap) train back to London. Typical English food in a typical English pub - just great. All four dishes, which we shared, were really tasty.

This little public house is handy for city center, with original features and a nice selection of ales. It's small and cozy, giving you a comfortable environment to enjoy conversation. I'd advise booking if you want to be guaranteed a table to eat. But definitely worth a visit

Good pub atmosphere, usual fare. Our toad-in-the-hole dinners were quite tasty, but service was slow. The young gents staffing the bar seemed a bit unclear about how to wait tables and be a bar keep. Perhaps they were short-staffed? We chose this because it was across from the Bodelian and close to many spots we wanted to see.

I wanted to find somewhere in Oxford for decent pub food and being highly rated on TripAdvisor, I was persuaded to come here. It was very busy and very tight spaced which was no matter. There were only two workers at the bar - one served the drinks whilst the other waited the tables and served the food. They seemed... More

Hello Thank you for your review. I'm so frustrated with your comments as all you had to do was tell the management or staff. We do not use salt in our batter or indeed when we cook the salmon with the ever increasing awareness of customers choosing not to add salt we simply leave this up to the customer. Our... More
