our first visits were great, good food with some interesting salads, chic attentive staff and terrific decor...HOWEVER, a recent visit was marred by overpowering 'background' music . I appreciate that music can 'lift' the mood on quiet days, however the at 3.30 the restaurant was...full and busy so this was unnecessary. On thinking back to several earlier lunches and dinners, I have no recollection of music - so either it was background and pleasant - or just not there. Staff said they could do nothing, it was a management decision, which takes my rating from Excellent to Average, and an average desire to return.More

A really extraordinary atmosphere with the most delicious food. Took my boyfriend here for a treat and had a fabulous time! All the staff were very attentive and polite and the food was to die for!!! Will definitely be coming back!!

I had booked Champagne Afternoon Tea with friends to celebrate my wife’s Birthday. Before arriving on the day, I telephoned the Restaurant to confirm our booking. On the of booking, when we arrived we were shown to our table which was really a table to...accommodate 2 people instead of 4 but we let it pass. The Waitress arrived and asked were we celebrating a special occasion, so I advised her that it was my wife’s Birthday. A few minutes later, when my wife returned from the Toilet, she asked what we’d like to offer. I advised that it was Afternoon Tea but didn’t mention that it was the Champagne option because I wanted that part to be a surprise as I had made a booking giving all the details was wasn’t sure why I was asked again nevertheless we gave our choices (Tea / Coffee), though the Waitress assumed we were all having Tea!!!! A few minutes later our choices of Tea / Coffee arrived before a glass of Champagne. I advised the Waitress that we had booked the Champagne Afternoon Tea! Another Waiter arrived with the Champagne and simply left 4 glasses on our table. He didn’t smile or say word! Then when the first part of the Afternoon Tea arrived, one of our party members didn’t have a plate to eat from. Although a manager did try to put things right, that special memory for my wife’s birthday was ruined. We have been to many Afternoon Teas all over the world and although the food was delicious, the service and attention to detail at the Ivy was poor. I would not recommend this restaurant.More

We booked a table for 9pm and arrived a few minutes early. Our table wasn’t ready (fair enough as we were early) - we were told it would just be a few minutes and directed to the bar to wait. Our drinks took ages to...arrive after being prepped fairly quickly but then just left on the other side of the bar for 10 minutes. At 9.20 I asked a staff member to check on our table and we were eventually seated at 9.25. Despite there being plenty of staff, the service was haphazard and no one appeared to be in charge. We were obviously forgotten about. The food was lovely but having a service charge added to the bill felt a bit much after our long wait! Not sure I’d go againMore

Great setting, interesting building and deco, lovely food, Service at bar with cocktails and at table was very impersonal, rushed and seemed like they couldn’t get rid of us quick enough. Not very relaxing, terrible acoustics, very loud couldn’t hear others round our table or...at the bar and there were only 3 of us, They charged service charge on the bill without asking. I wouldn’t normally have left a tip as service was impersonal and rushed but didn’t want to make a fuss so paid £28 service on £200 bill for 3 of us. They asked if it was anyone’s birthday as it happens it was my sons yesterday so they gave a complementary large profiterole with candle which was a nice gesture but arrived after we had already ordered 3+puddings and when my so.n was in toilet so candle burning and ice cream melted - they could have waited till he was back at the table to make it special - felt like a bit of a production line and waiters needed to just get the food out, better personal service at Core Brasserie eve beforeMore

Another amazing IVY restaurant, centre location and definitely a must if you enjoy great food with a nice open relaxing atmosphere. Service by the staff was absolutely perfect, very friendly and always around if you needed anything. I wound strongly suggest booking if you are...wanting to eat here at the evening.More

Despite branching out and creating several 'Ivy' establishments, Ivy Oxford manages to replicate the enjoyable ambience of its London original. We enjoyed excellently made cocktails, I highly recommend the Candy floss something or other for the ladies and the food was excellent. The young lady...waiting on our table was delightful without being too much and our only disappointment was that we were not able to tip her personally as she was no where to be seen when we left.More

Went for my fiances birthday meal last night. Service was fantastic. And surprised us with a candle lit cake for desert. Decor was brilliant and the bar was very fancy as per usual with the ivy. It was that nice we went back for breakfast!

Visited the ivy in Oxford today with a voucher I was given for my birthday. The room when you walked in was wow as were the toilets. What was lacking was service, we received our afternoon tea before our tea was delivered and I had...to chase up. Then to be hit with a discretionary charge when I presented my gift voucher seems a little wrong, £8.50 was placed as a charge I would of course left a tip off say £5 but to be given a bill was a little shocking. I placed on my booking it was a gift gift got my 40th birthday and no acknowledgement was given slight disappointing considering the price my friend paid for my voucher. Therefore I shall not be returning.More
