I think some reviewers unfairly expect a little too much of Browns missing the point of what it actually is. Brown's doesn't set out to provide fine dining or the quintessential afternoon tea. What it does do, extremely well, is provide quick tasty meals in...More

Passing this traditional cafe in the historic indoor market we called in for an early lunch. Saw their well cooked and presented breakfasts being served and with a very friendly young man taking our order it looked very promising. We ordered a toasted sandwich each...More

Average afternoon tea at Brown's. The finger sandwiches were not very tasty and the selection of cakes on the stand was poor. Time to find a new afternoon tea destination in Oxford.

This is a traditional market cafe and they serve an excellent breakfast, which is why we return year after year. Fast and friendly service. Great coffee and a good fry up with quality ingredients that are well cooked. Can't ask for more than that.

I'm quite surprised by all the good reviews for this place. This was the worst afternoon tea I've had during my three week holiday in the UK. People recommended the apple pie, but I found it very dry and bland. I couldn't even get myself...More

Cheap and cheerful. Usually busy . Popped in for a breakfast and coffee. Quick cheerful service. Food hot and edible. Decor could do with an update but many visit here while in the market

We visited Browns at noon. Service friendly, not quick, but we were not in a rush. Children had hot chocolate with a straw which they enjoyed, I had a decent coffee. We chose two all day full breakfasts and one burger and chips. Big portions,...More

We like Brown's for quick early-morning cuppas, lazy breakfasts and snacks/haerty meals at any time. Their coffee is good: their hot-chocolate is satisfyingly chocolatey. What's particularly good here? We love their Portuguese specialties, especially their "natas" (pasteis de nata - Portuguese custard tarts) and queijadas...More

Stopped by for a Saturday morning breakfast. Service is really friendly and polite. Our drinks were very prompt: a sound mug of breakfast tea and a straightforward black americano. Our food arrived quickly too: a cheese omelette and a sausage bap. Nothing fussy but both...More

I visited here last weekend with my mum and grandma. For such a small place they have a great menu covering soups, sandwiches, toasties and even chicken and chips. The service was so quick and the food great value for money. A really good find...More
