I took my parents and 6 year old sister for lunch here today. The interior is delightfully and refreshingly “old pub” style, as opposed to the clinical and mass-produced interiors of chain restaurants, and our welcome was very warm. As it was a sunny day...More

From J Boy of Derby Love visiting this pub, beer is superb, very friendly and efficient staff. Highlight has to be the most beautiful beer garden with its patio and flowers. At night it is illuminated with dozens of lights, if wet it can be covered...More

Fab food and great service in quaint pub. Very friendly. We've visited before and returned. Back beer garden is so peaceful. Hidden gem. Had salmon this time and sticky toffee pudding (which came with ice cream). Good selection of gins too.

Our favourite in Oxford. A great little pub. Full of character, as is the landlord. They serve food, although we have not ate here, but what I've seen it looks nice. Has the most lovely atmosphere and a good selection of beers.

The real thing. Unforced proper pub, survivng amongst in North Oxford despite the bloated business despoilation of the city. Well kept, excellent beer, good food, great ambience and bona fide eccentric landlord. Splendid.

Usually a cpl of spaces on the street itself, if not try non-residential bays on Winchester and Canterbury roads. 👍

In Oxford you'll find a warm welcome at the Rose and Crown (built in 1863). Run by Deborah and Andrew for 30years, the award winning pub is popular with students, locals and tourists of all ages and interests. The bar stocks a range of traditional English bitter on handpump, as well as good wines, malt whiskies, Belgian bottled beers and lager. The menu offers a selection of hot and cold meals, freshly made sandwiches and light snacks. The traditional interior is simply styled with a cosy, characterful atmosphere and to the rear a vine-draped, heated and covered courtyard. Close to the town centre. Recommendations include The Good Pub Guide, The Good Beer Guide, The Quiet Pint.
