The family really like "The Upsy" . Ray, Leela , Lisa and team run it well and have maintained the locals as well as getting passing trade and the carvery regulars. I live almost 2 miles away in the town centre and happily make the journey to Whitley. My office team and managers also have a "Works Do" here. The... More

Ok, it has changed owners, now part of Stonehouse Pizza and Carvery, but the carvery still remains reasonable value. Bad news and good news. Bad news - the prices have risen by more than a pound since we last visited. Good news - Raymond is the kitchen Manager and is till out there acting as the ambassador for the carvery.... More

We've eaten at this restaurant so many times over the years and the food has always been really tasty, very fresh and you never leave feeling short changed when it comes to portion sizes or the cost of the meals. The staff have always been really friendly and very helpful and one of the waiting staff that works there Jane is... More

This is the second visit to a Stonehouse. The pizzas are far better than the usual places. Apparently this place has not long taken over what used to be 'The Crown' carvery. Very friendly and efficient staff. Only 15 mins from the Holiday Inn

Hi Rosie, thank you for your review. I apologise that your experience was not up to a sufficiently good standard. We are in the process of getting the toilet fixed and the toilet should have been made out of order! I will endeavour to find out why this was not done! I am sorry the food was not up to... More

This was our first visit after the refurbishment. Everything has a feel of freshness, certainly a lot lighter and less of a clostrophobic feeling. The staff now come across as a happy bunch who are less stressed and more relaxed. They want to ensure everyone has a lovely experience and are very welcoming throughout. Raymond is still the spirit of... More

The Staff attitude can not be faulted, smiley and always ready to help. The food on the other hand is a different mater. Nice and warm but never hot! Cold plates, and the (other than Carvery) food was dry and sad looking. I opted for the Steak and Ale pie, as the saying goes "Wata Mistaka to makea!" Pastry like... More

The staff were very friendly and helpful but it still felt like you were queuing up for school dinners , once you had bought you ticket from the bar for your meal you then went to the Carvery to decide what meat you would like which looked like it had been there for quite a while looked very dried up... Back in 2015 I gave this place 1 star because it was dreadful, it has recently had a makeover and a re-branding although I think it is the same operator running it. On first impressions, it is a lot cleaner and the staff are happy to help which is a big improvement. The internal layout is still awkward, it’s all... More
