Only eaten Sunday lunch here, but both times it has been amazing. Try the sharing platter and if your nosey ask for a table overlooking the kitchen.

Thank you so much! We love our Sunday roasts here at The Chequers and always encourage people to join us! Who doesn't love "roasties!" Our sharing roasts have been such a great hit and we hope to always keep this up for those who are generous enough to share it! More

My wife and I have finally finished our visiting the trio of Bath Pub company venues and the best was certainly kept until last. They hold 2 rosettes which is very apparent from the quality and presentation of the food but surely it can't be long until it holds a Michelin star. Our waiter was one of the most polite... More

Jhs1971 Wow thank you! Such a detailed review, it's clear we made an impression and I'm so glad to hear your opinion on achieving a Michelin Star, it's always the dream to reach and I hope one day you'll be right! Our training for our waiters/waitresses is maintained very well by our managers here and we always strive to let... More

My wife and I went to The Chequers for dinner last week. The menu was such an eclectic mix that we nearly left without eating but frankly just wanted a quiet dinner and get back to our hotel. We both ended up choosing the only things on the menu that appealed and were delighted that we had stayed. The quality... More

The restaurant was recommended by friends for our visit to Bath and it did not disappoint. Great atmosphere and staff, but it's the food that amazes - quite simply one of the best meals I have ever eaten. If you only go to one restaurant in Bath, then make it this one.

After reading about The Chequers in the Sawday's Guide, we gave it a whirl for Sunday lunch. What a hidden gem in the cobbled backstreets of Bath. It oozes heritage and it doesn't disappoint in producing a classic Sunday lunch. With local Ales on tap alongside continental larger and a short but sweet wine list, I promise you won't be... More

After a years break and a disappointing experience at the Cow Shed restaurant I brought the team back to Chequers for our Christmas bash. Have to say that once again we were not disappointed the food was of an exceptional standard and the atmosphere in the upstairs dining room was vibrant. The service was, as always, superb and we cannot... More

Very good 2 rosette standard food. love the mix between classic pub food and the trendy casual fine dining food my partner and I enjoyed. Been to both the Marlborough Tavern and Hare and Hounds too, but have to say The Chequers is by far the best! Will return again soon.

I echo that of the review by 'leveller99'. I too had the squid and shared with my partner as we wanted to leave enough room for the Sunday roast. It was light and very tasty. We both chose belly pork. The vegetables, I felt, were cooked to perfection. Sometimes with roasts vegetables can be too sweet or oily but the... More

Visited with my mother on a Friday evening - very glad I booked as it was super busy! The staff were incredibly friendly. Food was, in no uncertain terms, divine!!! Starter portion of squid a little on the large size, but the goats cheese and beetroot really tasty. My venison was sublime and my mother's pheasant very good. All in... More

Four of us ate here for dinner; a fantastic, concise menu, and a great wine list. The starter of salt and pepper squid was beautiful, and generous in the portion size. This was followed by partridge, also amazing. The Chequers deserves a mention not only for the food, but also the service, which is attentive without being pretentious. Finally, a... More

Amazing feedback leveller99 thank you! The salt and pepper squid is one of our more popular starters as it suits all who may have come in for a hearty meal or even a light bite. Our extensive wine list is one we pride ourselves on as well so I'm glad you found it to your liking. More
