This place was recommended and we enjoyed a relaxing lunch in a pleasant atmosphere. Good menu choice, including vegetarian options and tap water was available. I had a plate/slab of veggie antipasti, which was delicious. Service was unobtrusive. Prices reasonable. Would definitely go back.

Have always liked this place. But last night prices were up by 50% and food was distinctly aaverage. They did this a couple of years ago and then put prices back down. Hope they have the sense to do it again!

First visit to this restaurant. Lovely atmosphere. Great food. Reasonable prices. I was with a small group but it would be just as good with two or three people.

Once a month four of us meet for a meal to catch up "Caffe Vivo" is one of the places we love. We usually get together on a Friday night so booking this restaurant is an absolute must. The atmosphere is always buzzing which makes it popular with Newcastles young and trendy as well as families. The quality of the... More

This place, down a back street, is worth searching out. It will surpass expectations and appearances - standard menu but the quality of food and cooking is definitely better than average. All the typical Italian staples on the menu - well executed - and you get attentive, friendly and informal service. Great fish - I had hake perfectly cooked. Definitely... More

Visited on Tuesday 15th November after booking online. Found service very friendly and relaxed. My meal of cod carpaccio followed by red wine braised beef was very well cooked and presented. My business guest ordered the fish stew which was stunning. Price was reasonable. I will be definitely visiting again with business guests and will be spreading the word among... More

Visited on a Tuesday evening and the place was only half full. This allowed us to have the full attention of the serving staff which meant a great experience. I had the Buffalo Mozzarella with Prosciutto and tomato dressing starter which was sensational; easily the best Mozzarella I have tasted very creamy. For mains I had the Chicken Milanese on... More

On a rare visit to Newcastle we visited this wonderful establishment. From the moment we went in until the moment we left we were looked after by smiling attentive staff and the food was simply wonderful. My wife declared her lamb dish as the finest she has ever tasted - and she knows what she's talking about. If I were... More

An excellent choice for a Saturday evening dinner. Restaurant was lively and the service impeccable. A la carte is a bit pricey, but the prix fixe is good value. Fresh seafood, beautifully flavoured, well prepared. Highly recommend.

This is a buzzy (ie noisy) bistro just off Newcastle's Quayside. On a lunchtime visit, the food was freshly prepared and there was a good choice, but the service was slower than expected for a lunchtime - you'd be hard-pressed to be in and out in an hour, even with two courses. It's not cheap, but it is reliable
