I’d give it 3.5 if I could
We took advantage of the 40% off January offer today
We had 10 small plates, 3 desserts, and 6 soft drinks for £75, which was decent value and included the service charge
Had it not been 40% off, it would have been too expensive for the quality of food though
Service was excellent
Food itself was reasonable but nothing better than this
Sweetcorn plates were tasty and the chicken and beef get a thumbs up
Tacos were pretty bland however and there was a ghastly cheap cheese sauce on the nachos which were poor
Pineapple sponge to finish was excellent
Overall it was a decent visit for the discounted price, but some of these small plates should have cost £9, and they would be poor value at that price

We checked this out during restaurant week in Newcastle as we had never had a Hawaiian influenced menu before
Pole Bowl with Hui Hui Chicken was lovely and the reasonably priced 2for1 cocktails were great accompaniment to the meal
Partner had Hawaiian fried chicken which was so tender and the soy gravy was tasty with the sidewinder potatoes which were great to also dip into the soy gravy
We both had the upside down pineapple dessert, nice to finish off with.
Will return !!

Lovely place warm welcome when we entered.
Shared the Sunday dinner board 2
(2 people) and when it was amazing.
Food was so tasty except the kale which was burnt and wasn’t good but the rest was fab.
So much food I’m glad we had starved ourselves in advance. I loved the quirky mini axe for chopping the food and the individual pot of gravy each.
The reason 4* not 5 is
The food when cold quickly so some kinda of warmer would be better and they added in a 12% service charge which for us was £5.50 ish which is not usually tip that much. I like to think the staff get this as but who knows. Service was good so I didn’t wanna ask for it to be removed but it would put me on ff returning.

Have been to Hula a handful of times since it opened and always have a good time. Typically we go for food as there's quite a bit on the menu and everything we've tried we've loved, and it also happens to be really fairly priced & comes out quick.
I was inspired to write the review though when we recently called in for cocktails before an event and were surprised to find there was a 2-for-1 deal on. Service was quick and the bartender was very attentive in getting my girlfriend's spicy marg to just the right amount of spiciness. Poor bloke.

Bottomless brunch. Group of 4 mature ladies, arrived early and was not busy so we were shown to our table. Lovely surroundings, decor is beautiful. Comfy booth seat which was very social. Sufficient choice of drinks, most were really nice, couple of less nice ones. Standard. Hard and fast rule regarding top ups, must be at least half way through to get another. We were fine with that but must be annoying for staff. This was very strict. Food wise, best food I have had at any bottomless brunch. Gorgeous tacos. Only issue we had was the silly rule of last drink 15 minutes before the end. I have a few issues with this, firstly due to the only ordering drinks when at least half empty one of our group sat without a drink for 10 minutes. Secondly we were told that it was due to turning round the tables for the next customer, it is not the customers responsibility to manage the booking. This is their responsibility. Technically this is a 75 minute bottomless brunch not 90 minutes which the manager agreed with. Lastly the place was half empty but this did not encourage us to hang around to buy any more drinks as the table turn around rule made us feel not able to do this and they wanted us out. Staff were lovely though. It was very civilised. I would 100% eat there again not bottomless though, there are better ones out there. We are spoilt for choice in Newcastle.

Where do I even start…
This place is the utmost epitome of heaven on earth. Upon entry I felt the warm breeze of Hawaii met with 2 (for 1) of the crispest most refreshing you’ll do nuttin’s made by a very very handsome bartender. I took it upon myself to attempt the Hawaiian feast, every mouthful was the most flavoursome had to date. This was my first visit here and to be honest I can see myself coming to this paradise every single week.
Thank you truly hula, you have changed my life.

Had seen Hula Co on a fair few TikTok reviews, which looked amazing, so we decided to give it a try during restaurant week and selected that menu.
The restaurant has been decorated well, and has impact when you walk in. We were greeted straight away by a friendly staff member and taken to our table.
A server was straight with us and explained the menu, asking us if we had any allergies (twice).
The restaurant week special was two courses for £15 but the majority of items you had to pay a supplement for.
I had wanted steak and Huli chicken on the poke bowl, but ‘double meat’ meant the same type of meat, which was disappointing, so I opted for the tacos with huli chicken instead.
Our table smelled dirty, was sticky and wobbled. I asked our server for a napkin to stop it wobbling, which they never brought.
The food arrived quickly and I was shocked at how small the tacos were! Barely the size of the palm of your hand with around a tablespoon of meat on them. They tasted nice, as did the potato sidewinders, but it was far too
small a portion!
My companion had the sweet potato
curry, with chicken, which was more substantial but the sticky rice made it quite bulky and again, it was spot the meat.
The server insisted on taking some dishes away when I was still eating, which is an absolute pet hate of mine!
Dessert was a massive disappointment. I ordered the caramelised rum and pineapple syrup sponge. It arrived, dry, stale cake with no sauce and a couple of pieces of charred pineapple on. I ate only a small amount and left it. The server asked if the desserts were ok and I told them that it wasn’t and they just said, “oh, sorry” and didn’t ask why, or what they could do about it. It’s like a fake customer service, asking you but not actually caring enough to do anything about it!
My companion chose the strawberry sorbet but said it was creamy (it did taste as if it was made with milk), which may be a Hawaiian thing, but they don’t like milky desserts, so only ate a little of it.
Such a shame, as restaurant week should be an opportunity to showcase the food etc. not put people off!
Overall, really disappointing.
It would be highly unlikely we will return as there is too much other choice in Newcastle.

Went to this delightful place last Friday.
We arrived about 20 minutes early and it was pretty busy. We were seated within about 5 minutes though.
We started with the most delicious Pina Colada Daiquiris we then had Kiwi Daiquiris and my word they were superb.
My partner and I got the Hawaiian Feast board and loved every bit of it. I particularly liked the chicken, but all of it was delicious.
My son got the Salmon Poke Bowl with extra Salmon and devoured the lot.
They had 40% off food during January which we got so it was an absolute bargain. I believe the 40% off food takes place every Thursday as well.
Cocktails are 2 for 1 and superb.
Service was really good too.
We will definitely be back.

This is a lovely spot tucked away on a side street up from the Quayside.
The decor is lovely and the atmosphere is great.
We shared a sharing board. Plenty for 2 , the steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly.
We both loved the pulled pork and the potato sliders.
Great service from very friendly people and the cocktails were amazing.
The only thing we didn't like is they add a service charge of 12.5 percent.
Seems alot if UK places are doing this now. So just beware of that.
Personally we felt it is unnecessary to do this as we would have tipped more than the charge but just left it at that.
Would we go back. . Yes we would, however would ask for the service charge to be removed so we can decided on the tip.

Very average, found a lot of the dishes quite dry, we tried a variety of small plates. The nachos didn't come with guacamole or any sour cream which we weren't told when ordering and had to order this extra, we were told the chef might charge us for that (they didn't in the end) when it came it was about a TSP worth not enough at all. Probably wouldn't return much better food options. Service charge was added twice by mistake
The cocktails were very good however.

Fantastic service, the staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. The food was amazing, there was 6 of us and we all ordered a selection of different foods, nobody was disappointed, we all thoroughly enjoyed it all, even better was the fact that I myself am coeliac and everything on the menu apart from 2 items was gluten free. The staff were exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful regarding this, I've never eaten anywhere where I can basically choose from the entire menu. The cocktails are something else, so many to explore and 2-4-1 all the time. Can't go wrong with this place, we will all definitely be coming back.

The service was amazing, it was my birthday yesterday and I got offered a free frozen daiquiri. The food was also great and staff were just overall very accommodating even with it being fully booked and busy. Thank you to my server Jade!

Me and my friend thought we would try here as it’s pretty new. We did book a table however it wasn’t really needed on a Friday afternoon as plenty spare we were only 1 of 3 tables in. Straight away we were seated and the server was really knowledgeable. We decided to order 5 small plates between the 2 of us. The food was really nice. Something different and ideal to have little picky bits while having a couple of drink's. We went for the chicken strips, Tacos, Corn on the cob, nachos and curly chips. My only criticism would be the tacos were cold. We ate them first and they were still cold but probably the tastiest thing out of everything we ordered, so much flavour I would go for them again, and the curly chips were basically plain potato wedges, basic but absolutely fine. The cocktails had a good variety we had 3 each all being 241, I haven’t a single complaint about any drink we loved every cocktail we chose. Overall it was very chilled vibes. Food was good for picking and sharing and service was really good. Reasonable prices it was £75 for the 6 drinks total (cocktails) and 5 small plates. We would go back again

Me and my husband have been to hawaii a few times so we were super excited when we saw this opening!
They had a 40% off food for Jan deal on, so we ordered quite a bit 😅 even without the discount though, the food quality/quantity is definitly worth the money.
The service was quick and super friendly.
Cocktails were to die for.
The food was absolutely gorgeous. Plenty in the portion, super tasty and piping hot.
Would definitly recommend and will definitly be going back
