Have been to this restaurant on many occasions and have never been let down, even on a busy Saturday night, we have been politely asked to wait for 30-45 minutes and we always get in because the wait is worth it.
Service 5*, food 5*, value for money 7*
My only negative is I don't have the physical capacity to eat more, as I genuinely would !
Even if, the particular dish you like, isn't on the menu, explain what you would like to the waiter and they WILL make it. This restaurant sets the bar for all Indian restaurants. It simply is the best.

First thing you notice is the amazing staff very knowledgeable and friendly, the place its self has a warm lively atmosphere, fully booked out on a Wednesday night. The food was amazing and couldn’t fault it at all, the value was great for the quality and authenticity of the food. Highly recommend.

We went here as our monthly date out with my boyfriend and one of my friends and the food was lovely! My boyfriend got the sea bass as a starter and he said it was one of the best fish he tried, he really liked the prawn curry and was happy that it was actually spicy and the size of the prawns was really good. Me and my friend got vegetarian starters (they have a great selection of vegetarian meals) and chicken based mains that were all very tasty. Overall a good experience with lovely staff. One thing I'd say it can get very busy for evening dinning so be aware if you're looking for somewhere quiet to eat. Price wise it was around £25-40 a person with us having a starter and a main each and two deserts shared between the 3 of us. We only had a bottle of sparkling water and a jug of regular tap water for drinks.

Nice restaurant and dim lighting the way I like. Now for the food ! Was brought popadoms before I ordered, thought they were complementary? But was charged despite not ordering them which I thought was extremely rude. As for the meal I had an ice cold beer and a king prawn starter that was very nice at £8.50 The main was either lamb or chicken madras, so I asked if I could exchange it for prawn, not a problem the waiter said but they added £6 on despite it not being displayed which in many restaurants it is. The curry was ok but nothing special and only received 4 king prawns which weren’t much bigger than the ones on the starter despite this costing £23.50 with rice and their just wasn’t enough madras sauce, probably a half to a third of other restaurants. All this plus nan bread and the popadoms I never ordered came to £46,50. I did come here to vet the place as I’ve been looking for somewhere to take my parents and the family for their anniversary, so needless to say we won’t be going. Sorry to leave not the best review! But you can’t give people food before they’ve ordered an expect them to pay! Anywhere this has happened it’s be complementary.

Tonight was my first visit to Simla - safe to say I will be back! The restaurant has a lovely calming atmosphere, with neatly presented tables, gorgeous decor, and the smell of incense in the air.
I couldn’t possibly write this review without a mention to our lovely waiter Adil. Arriving ahead of my friend, Adil sat me to my table and offered me a drink whilst I waited and took the opportunity to chat with me and explain some items on the menu. His knowledge of the menu was superb and it was clear he was so passionate about the food.
When taking our order, Adil kindly offered some recommendations after we explained what we enjoyed and was so patient in explaining the menu to us.
The food itself was absolutely delicious. I ordered the chicken costal curry, which was bursting with flavour but not too spicy! We also got a selection of sides which were all delicious and packed with flavour. Special shoutout for the spicy prawns which were phenomenal.
Overall, Simla is a great restaurant which I would highly recommend. The staff are so attentive and just genuinely lovely. It’s clear they are passionate about providing a great dining experience. The food is packed with flavour and portion sizes are spot on. Already excited to come back for my second visit!

Nice venue!
Food was good and tasty but the portion sizes are small for the cost, menu is limited but they did cook some dishes that were not on the menu for a couple of our party which was accommodating. One thing with the smaller portions is that you don't come out feeling full and uncomfortable, mind you one of the guests went home and had a sandwich!
Waiting staff were all friendly but the restaurant was full so service was slower than I would have liked.
Whilst paying the bill I was informed about 5 times that a tip had not been included!
Sorry but it's not for me

An excellent restaurant. Spotlessly clean, including the bathroom. We were warmly welcomed into the restaurant for our evening dinner. We had a pre booked reservation. The manager and his staff were very polite and attentive, answering any queries we had regarding the menu and options available. It was nice to see a different Indian Menu to ones previously offered elsewhere. We opted for the top price Lamb dishes, both different, but excellent. A good variety of wines and beers were available. We had a lovely dining experience in a very relaxed atmosphere. We have dined in Indian restaurants in many of the major cities in England and Scotland, and this, by far, has been the best. You won’t know it, until you try it!

This was our third visit to the restaurant. We were really happy the first two times but this visit was even better than previous ones.
We were celebrating our son‘s birthday with his partner and all four of us ordered different things and tried each other’s dishes.
We loved the sev puri chat pre-starters and then shared 4 starters. All were great but the paneer garlic chilli pepper and gunpowder prawns were particularly good.
For mains we had grilled Marsala fish (sea bass), chingri malai prawn curry, Malabar coastal chicken curry and the chef made a chicken tikka pathia for us despite it not being on the menu. The chef varied the degree of spicing on a couple of the dishes as requested. We also had rice, bread and mixed tarka dal. We enjoyed everything. The dal was particularly good.
We had a really lovely evening and would 100% recommend, just wish we didn’t live over 300 miles away but we’ll definitely be back on our next visit to Newcastle.

Love this restaurant when in Newcastle. Food is lovely and so well cooked
Service is attentive and always with a smile
Only issue was, as a single diner, I felt that after I’d eaten they wanted me out and my table turned for other diners…that’s fine and I get it but I still had a full drink and after a filling meal wasn’t prepared to neck it down just so my table could be resold

Food nice but expensive and some staff extremely rude. Unfortunately my girlfriend wasn’t feeling very well so for drinks we were only able to order tap water - this took 40 minutes to arrive. We started off by only ordering a few starters (which still came to over £30) to see if my girlfriend would be well enough to continue with the rest of the meal. We were then asked to move to a ‘smaller table’ as we seemingly hadn’t ordered the amount of food he’d have liked us to, despite ordering £30 worth of food. When we asked for and paid the bill, as we were getting ready to put our coats on and leave, we were rushed out of the restaurant by the same staff member saying he ‘needed the table immediately’ whilst on the phone to other customers. Instead of being understanding and accommodating to our circumstances, this particular staff member treated us significantly worse because we weren’t in a position to spend as much money as we would have done in normal circumstances. This seems unfair and we will not be returning.

Very delicious Indian restaurant, one of the best Indian restaurants we have ever eaten. The food was served very quickly, parking was very convenient, the service attitude was very good, and the restaurant waiters were very enthusiastic. I will come again next time!

We haven’t been in here before, one of our party had back in 2004. The food was very tasty and the service was spot on
The inside of the restaurant was very subtle and tasteful. The music was in the background and ambient
We had various starters and mains and we were all extremely full and satisfied at the end of the meal
The staff were very informative and helpful
I would recommend a visit to this restaurant and you won’t be disappointed

The Simla is an excellent Indian restaurant. It is very smart and the service is friendly and very efficient.
We chose four different curries, all of which were very good, but top marks must go to the chicken Chettinad which was nicely spicy and absolutely delicious.
Our side dishes of dhal, potatoes, naan breads etc were also delicious and the portions were generous.
Highly recommended.

We visited for restaurant week. Great deal! We paid £25 each but got popadums, a starter each, a main and side each and another side to share. The food was excellent and it felt like great value for money. The staff couldn’t do enough to help and the restaurant itself is lovely

Amazing from start to finish. We were greeted and shown to our table in the window. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and the staff are so friendly. We ordered and food arrived promptly - we were recommended a dish, by a local shop owner, that wasn’t even on the menu and they happily cooked this for us! Couldn’t fault anything at all - absolutely superb! Thanks to Abdul and all the team for looking after us so well. We were first time visitors from North Lincolnshire and will definitely be back.
