Cheap and cheerful! You get what you pay for. Friendly staff. Strong group of regulars. Beautiful garden to sit in during summer.

Like an old pair of slippers. In a fast changing world there's always the stone, and that's the way I like it! Good beer and food. Better in the summer when the gardens open.

It relies on its location and history. It is OK if all you do is drink, but dont expect a lot by way of good atmosphere. A lot of foul mouthed patrons will soon remind you, you live in modern Britain. If you want nicer conversation, actually (and bizarrely enough) - go into the bar not lounge. Still. Its a... More

If I'm reviewing this as a local pub, the rating is very good. It's a little piece of history in the nicer part of Northfield next to St Laurence church, and it certainly has an olde worlde charm with pleasant bar staff, but in terms of the food I would have to say it is average pub grub. There is... More

Visited with family for a Sunday meal. It is a nice little pub, nothing out of the ordinary. There was a good atmosphere with live music (guy with guitar). The food was quite average. Prices were very fair.

The Stone is not ostentatious but presents itself by being what I expect of a genuine English pub. A good selection of good value cask ales (even cheaper on Tuesdays)and lathers (bargain prices on Mondays) is complemented by a basic but excellent value for money food with special deals for each day of the week. The house wine is excellent... More

Visited here with my partner one sunday evening. The pub was packed, but this was no surprise as the staff were friendly, there was a lovely olde-worlde cosy feel to it, and the seating as comfy. Two meals for £7.99 was really great value... a good range of dishes and quite tasty. I had fish and chips and wished afterwards... More

I visited at lunchtime with some friends. The pub was quiet & we had a drink or two & some food. The interior is olde worlde & makes a fantastic change from the bustle of modern town pubs. A great place to chill out! Food is great value for money & delicious. I look forward to returning.

Had a lovely meal here with family and my new born daughter, plenty of room to fit a pram in even though it's a small pub. Food very good and excellent value for money. Lovely beer garden that I'm looking forward to visiting in the summer.

I used to live in Northfield over 30 years ago and have not visited the Great Stone since I left but on revisiting the area recently wondered if it was still there as many of the landmark pubs in Northfield have now gone. What a wonderful surprise it still looks and feels like a country pub in Birmingham! It still... More
