Lovely place to drop in for a coffee when shopping. Also great lunches which are good value for money. Great view of the cathedral through the glass roof of the conservatory. On a sunny day nice to sit out in the garden.

Met some friends here and enjoyed cappaccino coffees and pai au raisin, both very good. Sat in the garden outside and listened to birdsong.

The choice of food and quality was frankly poor at this café. The service was surly. Overall a poor experience.

We visited for early lunch on a busy Saturday. It was just starting to get busy as we arrived but we were able to find a window seat overlooking the walled garden. We had jacket potatoes with prawns - a generous amount of prawns, the potatoes had nice, crispy jackets and the plate was garnished with a small salad. The... More

The setting is nice and the staff friendly but the prices are eye watering! They don't have a proper coffee machine yet they charge £2.55 for an espresso and £5.10 for a double (at Costa it's £1.70 / £2.00 for the genuine article). I only popped in for elevenses but a double espresso and a croissant cost me £7.15 ...... More

The morning was bright and sunny and I decided parking may get busy on Easter Sunday so to retain the relaxed bank holiday state, I had time to enjoy a nice coffee and snack before the service here. Friendly staff who wished people a happy Easter. Not a chain coffee stop! The garden was inviting bathed in sunlight and as... More

Cloisters Cafe prides itself on fair trade suppliers and freshly cooked food, featuring dishes such as smoked haddock with a gruyere and tomato gratin, supreme of chicken in a mushroom and tarragon sauce and roasted sweet potato with a bean ragu. Old favourites also appear on the menu along with baked potatoes and a range of hot and cold sandwiches.

There is a roast on Sundays when bookings can be made in advance. Cloisters also has a beautiful walled garden and the stunning Cathedral spire can be seen through its glazed roof.

Next to our cafe is the Cloisters Shop, offering a range of unique and gorgeous gifts and accessories, souvenirs and religious items. A perfect way to round off a visit to the Cathedral, or just to find that special present.
