Having been staying at the Concierge campsite ten minutes away from this gem of a place we went for a spot of lunch as they serve food all day which was ideal for us, the place is lovely with log fires burning and a very warm feel and welcoming by the staff, busy as it was we were served in... The party took place in a private room upstairs. Everything was very well organised and the food was excellent. The staff were very attentive. As always the only downside was the cost of the drinks which was very expensive. Overall the venue was very nice and I would recommend it.

Went there on recommendation for a Sunday roast lunch. when we were staying nearby Was a little disappointed with quality of food. Veg was not hot and meat not tender . and well cooked. Seemed to have been standing for a while. Thought it expensive for what we got. Perhaps the locals are less critical as it was very busy... More

Comfortable friendly pub. Food delicious. We had carvery baps and they were really tasty. Just ticked all the boxes on a Sunday afternoon

We stopped for lunch on a Friday. The front bar was packed and the restaurant had several tables occupied. My wife's macaroni cheese was a bit watery and lacking in cheese. i had the duo of rabbit - leg and loin with white cabbage and roast potatoes with a red wine jus. Excellent and plenty of well cooked meat. Good... More

'Father ... you've gone quite pale!' You won't find a review of the London Eye with my tag-line. And certainly none of those attractions with exterior glass-floors. I don't like heights. I can just about manage a three-step folding ladder or, with advance warning, an interior glass-floor like the Spinnaker Tower. I feel quite queazy sitting in the window seat... More

Delighted to see a carvery where the chef was brave enough to not cook the life out of the beef. I know some like it as dry as a bone but this had a nice bit of pink and was cooked to perfection. Chapeau chef! Sneaked a bit of pork that was also very nice (£13 Sunday carvery). Staff v... More

We have always enjoyed the Fox and Hounds breakfast but both thought our latest seemed better than we have previously had. Excellent sausages and bacon. Black pudding was nice and crispy as I prefer it. The mushroom was tastier than many you can get. Minor criticism was we'd prefer runnier eggs and softer tomatoes but overall a really good breakfast!

We were pleasantly accommodated with just a few hours notice of a making a reservation. Service with a smile was on the menu along with a Chef happy to accommodate a few tweaks to the dishes. Good fast service, great atmosphere and a lovely setting.
