We had our Christmas party here. It has been beautifully renovated. As expected here the food was wonderful. Being separate from the hotel meant our group were not disturbing anybody when we got a bit loud! The staff were attentive, the room was decorated for xmas even though we were still in November, the chairs were very comfortable, we had... More

The setting is exquisite - the view from our bedroom window was almost like a stage set. The spire of the village church, the towers of the manor house, a stream running along the side of the lane, the pretty, sloping lawns of the hotel. Delightful even on a bleak winter's day; it must be glorious in the summer. Everyone... More

Howards House is definitely my most favourite place to stay and dine.....ever! The food is exquisite, tasting delicious and looking beautiful on the plate. The hotel is warm and comfortable with all the bedrooms designed individually. Every room boasts lovely crisp bedding, fluffy towels and bathrobes, luxury toiletries and homemade biscuits on the tea tray and it's quiet!!!! We have... More

Situated in a picturesque valley on a lane across from a stream this small hotel was a wonddrful base from which to explore gardens in the area. The staff is welcoming friendly flexible. The food is refined excellent and plentiful. I had the smallest room under the eaves. The bed was very comfortable, the linen wonderfully cool, the bathroom simple... More

In a beautiful little country village with a clear chalk stream running along the road and 17th century stone cottages with thatched roofs this charming hotel and restaurant is a secret find. Superb lunch prepared with excellent ingredients in a pretty dining room overlooking the charming garden and lovely countryside. Service was professional and friendly. The rhubarb souffle was very... We recently stayed at the hotel overnight. The hotel is in a very pretty village and well kept. We only met one member of staff who was extremely helpful and friendly if not a little harassed as he seemed to be on reception, the waiter and in the kitchen. We enjoyed our stay and our room was good. However we... More

From the moment we arrived to our departure time we really enjoyed our stay. The friendly greeting and spotless rooms with wonderful food in a totally delightful setting made our stay memorable. The gardens are lovingly tended and if you are lucky enough to have good weather(as we experienced) it adds to the enjoyment. This is how a country house... More

Have been wanting to visit this quiet little tucked away restaurant for awhile, and it certainly lived up to all hopes and expectations when we eventually made it. Lovely welcome and hospitality when we arrived and before taken through to the dining room. Lots of impressive choices on the menu and lots of seasonal and local ingredients. Some lovely seared... Pre-lunch drinks in a comfy lounge - with a real log fire. Extensive menu and wine list. We all chose from the set menu which was great value - 3 courses for £20 plus drinks (wine by the glass was reasonably priced) All 4 of us chose the pear and Roquefort salad to start, 3 mains of fish and mashed... Celebrated a friend’s 60th birthday in style over relaxing lunch at The Howards House Hotel. Lovely rural location, pleasant restaurant and comfy coffee lounge complete with fireplace. We opted for the seasonal menu at £32.50 for 3 courses. Menu looked appetising and went for wild mushrooms to start and Partridge to follow. Mushroom course was ok but on the small... More
