Called in here after a day of walking with wife mother and 3 dogs Very dog friendly and awesome variety of drinks and fab food. All I can say is one of the best pubs around for miles FairPlay all is good here.

One of the few places to drink and eat which is still a local pub, with the the traditional pub atmosphere that hasn't been changed into a chi chi gastro pub, of which there are too many. The food is traditional, local and excellently prepared, service friendly and efficient. Right on the old A40 and plenty of parking.

Mrs Reviewer and I were staying at the nearby Clytha Castle - a crazy folly lovingly refurbished to function as a posh place to stay by the Landmark Trust - for a (ahem) significant birthday. Before the rest of the family arrived, we snuck out for dinner, choosing the Clytha Arms on the basis of Trip Advisor reviews. And on... More

Really nice selection of meals. Starters include wild mushroom tart, souffle, cawl soup. Mains had a nice variety of fish, rump of lamb, duck. Dessert had cheescakes, chocolate charlotte, lime tart and meringue and pistachio ice cream. Lovely cosy rural pub with 2 fires going nicely. Only issue was the time that service took as there were a few people... More

I attended with some family and found it to be a quaint pub, a wide range of local beers and a interesting and wide selection of food, lots of specialised fish. None of the food appeared to be from frozen, veg was fresh, they had indian and asian foods as well as things like fish and chips and standard pub... More

I eat in a lot of different places as a result of my job and I have to say that The Clytha Arms stands out of the crowd. The range and quality of food that is produced is amazing. The setting of course is outstanding and the warm and friendly feel created by the staff team and the roaring fires... More

We were staying locally and luckily the Clytha Arms was cooking in the evening. We anticipated an average experience as they must have been very busy for days, but we had a very good meal in a cosy corner by the fire with excellent and friendly service. We went for 4 tapas dishes from a tempting selection, a pudding each... More

We arrived for an anniversary lunch, our 40th, to find that there was no food available. Reservations were required. The website gave no indication that this was needed as the graph showed that at the time we came a relatively low level of clientele was to be expected. This was a pity as we had eaten there some years ago... More

This is a pub with rooms which deserves to be full every night. Superb evening meal, drinks and bed and breakfast for two came to under £150. Rooms are warm and homely with coffee machines and selection of teas, together with bottled sparkling water and a jar of humbugs. The food is outstanding with extensive use of local ingredients, my... More

Our group of six enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch at the Clytha Arms. It was our first time as we were just visiting the area and it was the closest pub to where we were staying, therefore we had no idea what to expect. The menu was varied and well priced and staff were helpful and attentive and happily explained... More
