Beautiful homemade food, freshly prepared, I had the mushroom leek and Camembert quiche which came with new potatoes and salad , my partner had a humous and roasted vegetable sandwich followed by an amazing generous slice of apple , caramel and almond cake with cream (see photo) really delicious! Chose this cafe as it's dog friendly and now I've tasted... More

I had the most amazing warm apple cake with cream and my husband had a delicious hot cross bun. The atmosphere was lively and the service was perfect, a real gem.

On our way through Brecon (heading for Tregarron) we stopped for lunch. To our delight we found the Hours Café & Bookshop.... Quite small but what it lacked in size it made up for in excellent fayre and lovely staff. One has to tuck into their home made soup, the bowl mopped up by scrummy bread from the local bakery!... Called in by chance, on an impromptu visit to Brecon, it was a busy lunchtime, so, took the time whilst waiting for a free table, to browse the books and Art Exhibition upstairs. Lovely menu choices and all freshly prepared. I enjoyed the tuna, beetroot and egg salad, very tasty, whilst my daughter and son-in-law shared a humous and pitta... More

Three of us had lunch - delicious quiche and organic salad followed by puddings. The staff are really friendly, the service swift and you sit amongst the bookshelves. Our group of 3 bought 2 books having spotted them on the shelves while eating. Upstairs there is an art exhibiting and the shop sells birthday cards and mugs. It's a perfect... More

I've been meaning to get on tripadviser for ages just to review this place as I love it so much. For a long time I tried different cafes in the centre of Brecon but later discovered this place- Wish I had found it sooner. i frequent here on my lunch break when I'm in Brecon once a week. The shop... More

With a dog, it is very difficult to find an attractive, friendly cafe. We ate lunch here, the ladies were very friendly. I had the most delicious broccoli quiche, salad and new potatoes. Mr husband had a cheese sandwich on granary. Both were great. Super book shop to browse around also.

We were really pleased to find a cafe that would allow the dogs in (it was a very chilly day and coffee and cake in the warm cafe was very welcome indeed). This cafe has 1 x dog friendly table so I guess it is just wise to ask before you go in (we did). It is a lovely independent... More

Went yesterday and had lunch. Lunch reasonably priced, the home made soup is to die for. Staff again are very accommodating. Dog friendly table near the front of the restaurant. Lovely!!

Description
We are an independent Café & Bookshop located in the little wonky green Tudor building facing the library on Ship Street in Brecon. We serve breakfast from 10am-11.30am and then lunch from 12pm to app. 2-30pm though this is very flexible. We source as much produce locally as we can and everything is freshly prepared to order. We make our own homemade soups, stews, quiches and other tasty delights and have something to suit everyone's taste and pocket. We always offer soya milk, gluten free bread and cater for as wide a range of tastes and requirements as possible. Come along and say hello - a very warm welcome always waits at The Hours.
