The star of the show in all asador restaurants is the wood-fired parrilla grill. The Spanish larder is amongst the very best in the world, so when the finest meat, seafood and vegetables from Spain are cooked to perfection over different types of wood, then the lick of smoke from the grill takes their flavour to another level. This is the essence of Asador 44. Rubia Gallega chuletón steaks, dry-aged for up to 70 days in-house, whole turbot, giant carabinero prawns, octopus, Segovian suckling pig, Pyrenean milk-fed lamb, escalivada…truly some of Spain’s finest ingredients and dishes can be found on the menu. Attention to detail is crucial and the team at Asador 44 will welcome you to a refined,…
Being Spanish, I normally wouldn't go to a Spanish restaurant in the UK, but I'm glad I visited Asador 44. Food was seriously good, wine list was fantastic, and the service was spot on. I would highly recommend this place!
Had the best birthday dinner with friends from initial booking to the end of the night everything was utterly faultless. The food was incredible and every single member of staff was lovely and smiley and couldn’t do enough for you. Thank you so much for...the best evening we will definitely be back very soon!!More
First time visiting and definitely won't be the last. We had a few starters to share which were all great and flat iron and cod for main. The steak was cooked perfectly and the sides were delicious too. We also shared some desserts which were...also really nice. The ice creams were surprisingly good. My partner is GF and dishes were easily adapted and he had plenty to choose from. Service was excellent too.More
After reading the reviews and being a regular visitor to Bar 44, we booked for lunch. The environment and service were good, but the food let it down. I had a flat iron steak, and it was really chewy, not enjoyable. Starter was nice, but...some of the sides lacked flavour also. I would have been happy with the price if the food lived up to it, but we were left disappointedMore
What a delightful restaurant! Smart, succulent food, with deep integrity to northern Spain. Every dish was delicious and exquisitely well balanced. Wine list also excellent. Lovely atmosphere and great service.
Had a super meal here - the vegetable side dishes were the stars of the show! Order lots of these. Absolutely delicious and obviously very high quality food. Would 100% recommend. I am Coeliac and allergic to shellfish but the (very lovely very knowledgeable) waiters...were very clear as to what they could amend to be gluten free. Very good wine list, too! Would recommend 100%!!! A vegetarian or vegan would have an amazing time here.More
From start to finish our evening was perfect. We had a lovely little table tucked away but the staff did not forget about us!
The service was brilliant from explaining the menu to recommended certain dishes the staff couldn’t of been more helpful!
The food...was to a very high standard! The ingredients were allowed to speak for themselves nothing too complicated just done well! I had the flat iron steak and it was cooked perfectly!
The addition on a couple of sides left us room for puddings!
Will definitely be back in the near future!
Well done to all the staff back and front of house.More
My fiancée and I were actually on our way to another restaurant for lunch when we spotted this place and decided to change plans. We had the Friday menu del día and were absolutely blown away. The food is excellent and very authentic, the staff...couldn't have been more helpful or friendly, and the general decor and ambience of the place is top notch. You could genuinely be eating in Madrid.
Price-wise Asador 44 is a tad expensive for Cardiff and Wales in general, but you really do get what you pay for. I would return in a hurry.More
It's the best. Better than all the rest. Better than anywhere, anywhere I've ever ate (certainly in Cardiff at least).
Been plenty, always have an incredible meal. The staff just couldn't be better. The food is the real deal. Bar 44 is fantastic but Asador...44 is another experience altogether.
It's always our go-to for any big occasion or treat and it never, ever disappoints.
If you haven't been before I cannot recommend it highly enough.More
Outstanding food and service. Shared roast beef Sunday lunch was superb. Turbot with cockles just delicious. Very knowledgeable and pleasant staff. Not cheap but absolutely good value for the quality of produce
