Dined here on Saturday night and had an excellent meal. Good atmosphere, friendly staff and superb food. The black pudding was absolutely delicious as was the monkfish. Stone bass got a big thumbs up as well. Good portions, well seasoned and all served hot. Good range of wines on offer at sensible prices.

This being the 3rd year back at the bbb i was totally let down by the food. The staff were great as usual and run a great night on service. HOWEVER, the food didnt live up to shu's normal standards for me! ....first course, steak tartare, is basically eating a raw squashed meatball. Horrible. And 2nd course was even worse.... More

Love this restaurant - excellent Michelin star quality and food. Need to book a long time in advance though - maybe they could offer a "waiting list" reservation as they do in many top Pariisian restaurants. (Hint to management and makes perfect sense?).

Went for dinner with a group of work colleagues tonight. I have been to Shu several times in the past and rated it "just ok." Tonight's experience was quite different. Wonderful service and delicious food. I have the curried cauliflower salad starter, which by description might not appeal to most, but when served was envied but others. I then had... More

My wife and I used to visit this restaurant fairly frequently but for one reason or another we have not visited for about two years. We decided earlier this month to call in for lunch on a Friday. Our lunch was delicious. The restaurant was busy and staff could not have been more attentive. we were delighted that the standards... More

Booked as a birthday treat we arrived and were show over to our table which was at the far corner of the restaurant. There's basically a large (and comfortable) bench that runs along the far side of the room. We got the feeling that we were squeezed in that night (it was Saturday). Personal space was at a minimum. I... More

Went here on a Saturday night with friends and asked for a table downstairs, so that we were already downstairs for the after meal bar. Although it wasn't the biggest of menus, the food on offer was still quite varied. Tried Fois Grae for the first, and it was quite filling, whilst the beef wit harris was on the spicy... More

Great service front of house, knowledgeable polite and engaging. Early table so only a few in but quickly gathered pace towards seven but still attentive. First of the couples in so where on our own on the bench seating till the room filled out. Monk fish cheeks on a brilliant tarter sauce, what years ago would have been called scampi.... More

Opted for the dine with wine menu which is excellent value. Broccoli risotto is fantastic and the blade of beef was just delicious. I could not fault the service in any way, attentive without being intrusive and expedient without feeling rushed. Will most definitely be back to sample more of the menu.

What a great night out! The warm welcome perfectly accompanied the great food and wine selection. I started with a cocktail; I thought it would be rude not to! We were looked after by a wonderfully warm and genuine lady who has been with Shu for over 12 years, we were told. She epitomised all that is good about this... More
