All reviews steak truffle fries raspberry sorbet monkfish hummus fish cakes chicken cooked to perfection front of house place to eat wine list on saturday evening excellent food service was great recommend this restaurant last night fantastic meal
we visited Home on a recent trip to Dumfries for my birthday. Weekly changing menu, so i can't tell you what you'll get to choose from, but i had a crispy egg followed by a monkfish with a fishcake... not normally one for desserts, I...still managed to force down a delicious chocolate pot..... everything was cooked well and tasted delicious. The ambiance of the place is first class and the staff are all lovely. Highly recommended if you're in the area.More
Staying just outside of Dumfries, we were looking for a well-reviewed restaurant for an evening meal. An initial 'sorry we're full', was followed up by a text message to say we could be fitted in.
'Home' could be easily missed, by it's secluded setting, behind...a wall on the Whitesands. Without Tripadvisor's recommendation, we would have been unaware of its existence. In fact, without sight of a menu, we were going totally on the strength of reviews. But what a discovery!
Starters were amazing; my wife had the Brie, and I had the salt and chilli crispy egg. We were just about to try the monkfish, and the sweet potato and spinach korma, when Louisa mentioned that they had some well-aged steaks. The fact that they were from a butcher in my home town settled it. My wife had a sirloin, and I had a ribeye; both cooked medium, and to perfection. Served with two spears of baby broccoli, and truffle fries simplicity of presentation, and sublime flavour.
The staff are warm and friendly, and all in all, it was a wonderful dining experience.More
We had a gorgeous meal last night (25.09.20). The scallops with belly pork melted in your mouth and my wife's monkfish did the same. The beauty of the building helped create a fantastic ambience which enhanced our dining experience. Due to the new covid restrictions...in place, you will need to book well in advance.
Thanks Tom and Louisa for a fab night in Dumfries.

What a find, my daughter booked this I am veggie and while they do not have a massive choice what they have was beautiful.
We all had different and each meal was packed with flavour and presented well. Staff were really friendly too. It is...cash only or you can do bank transfer.
Definitely worth a visitMore
We ate here last Saturday. Restaurant was nicely busy but well distanced. Food was superb, service was great and staff very friendly. We would throughly recommend this restaurant and would definitely eat here again.
I visited Home with my sister on Friday night and can honestly say this was the most pleasant experience we've had eating out in Dumfries. Firstly Front of House (or Front of Home) were so welcoming and attentive. Lovely chat but not overbearing. I often...face anxiety eating out however i was instantly put at ease by the welcoming and calm demeanour of both the staff and the restaurant. The atmosphere is warm with the fairy lights and the good tunes. Food was absolutely out of this world. I've travelled over the US and Europe and was blown away by the fact that the nicest restaurant i've been in was in our wee town. Big up all the Home team you guys are absolutely smashing it!More
Charming restaurant with friendly staff. The menu was so good and varied that we were stuck for choice. We were given home made focaccia bread with houmous, Good sized starters and huge main course portions. We had a spicy king prawn spaghetti dish and a...lamb sag - everything was delicious and cooked to perfection.More
We visited Home in the last dinner of our Scottish trip and we both agreed it has been one of the best dinners of our trip and, certainly, the best fusion one. We loved the menu as every option was very far from the traditional...Scottish food, with interesting pairings of ingredients belonging to different cuisines, and we couldn't easily decide what to order, we would have eaten everything! Everything treated lovely and the highlights were the focaccia bread and the pistachio ice cream.
The service was great and the lady, who also spoke Italian (apologies forgot the name!), was very friendly and helpful in finding us a table even though the place was full.
The wine list could have been more extensive but the bubbles and white wine we drank were pleasant and reasonably priced.
Will certainly go back next time I'm in Dumfries.More
