We had lunch here recently on our way through Dumfries and Galloway for the weekend. The food was absolutely delicious, decor lovely, service friendly and attentive and the whole place was clean and well ventilated. Lovely area to sit outside if the weather is kind....Lots of vegan and GF options for those who need it. Would definitely visit again if I’m ever in the area. Thoroughly recommendMore

Dropped in at The Boathouse Cafe on our way from Caerlaverock Castle to Dumfries. Staff were very accommodating as we had our boisterous little dog with us. The two young ladies who looked after us could not have been more friendly… and even provided our...dog with a sausage! The food, (although only a light snack) was great and the service prompt. The view from the deck was stunning across the estuary. Will definitely return on our next visit to the area!More

Don't normally leave reviews but came across the Boathouse purely by chance. The views up the estuary on a beautiful sunny day were breathtaking, the sun shimmering on top of the water. There are toilets available onsite and a fairly big carpark so no shortage...of spaces. The Boathouse cafe and restaurant is positioned perfectly with stunning views from your table right up the estuary. The wildlife is plentiful on or around the water and pictures don't fully do it justice. There is s fine menu to pick from and the snacks and refreshments will suit most tastes. The staff were very attentive and helpfulMore

A warm welcome was given to our family and we were given an excellent table by the patio windows. Great choice on the menu, catering for vegans and those will allergies, pancakes were delicious, washed down with smooth lattes. Service was very attentive throughout, friendly...and always polite, perfect breakfast all round.More

It was busy on arrival and arriving at 1.05pm we were told yes we could have a table but they needed it back at 2.00pm. We waited 20minutes to have our order taken. 2 tables arrived after us and were served before anyone even venture...near our table. We left so cannot comment on food.More

Met up with family members for lunch, a lovely location and a sunny day so we sat outside to enjoy the views. Our food was lovely, lots of healthy options and a good vegan selection too which isn't always on offer! The staff were friendly...and helpful and it was good to see how busy it was on a Monday lunchtime, we will definitely be back!More

Booked for lunch 1.10 pm 14th July . Arrived to be told our name for some reason had been scored out. Offered an enclosed boat type table (seating for six) in corner which I refused. Given another table ( after I asked ) which we...were told was allocated for someone else. Drinks order taken but slow in getting them. Had to ask for them after another couple who came in after us were given theirs. Bhudda bowl was such a let down. Mostly spinach leaves and roasted veg consisted of a few mushrooms and unappetising maybe aubergine. (Not good value for £10+) I had two mouthfuls only. No comment from waitress on collecting my plate. Husband had barbecue brisket and cheese on sourdough. His comment ..just ok. Wrong choice of food for me perhaps but would not go again……….More

Stopped here yesterday June 6th 2021.Deciphered a fussy menu to order what was basically a bacon sandwich with scrambled egg.The bacon was fatty and greasy and I left a lot of it.When asked the platitude above I complained about the bacon and got no response...from either our waitress or the cashier.Real customer service should mean something - like " I'm very sorry sir we'll have a look at that please have your coffees on the house " ........... nothing.More

What a lovely place for lunch on a Sunday. Seating both inside and out and a huge ramp up to the door for easy wheelchair access. Really nice simple menu with something for all tastes including gluten free and vegan. We had the Buddha bowl...with roasted vegetables but there was an option to add a chicken breast. The food arrived quickly and was so colourful and fresh. The flavours beautifully balanced. We followed this with the salted caramel cheesecake with vanilla ice cream and my friend had cream. Absolutely amazing! Not too sweet and despite looking like a piece of millionaire shortbread, it had a lovely soft texture and it wasn’t too salty either. Tea and coffee finished the meal, which came in at just under £40 for the two of us. Staff were welcoming, efficient and attentive. The restaurant sits on the banks of the Nith, with views over to Criffel. A truly beautiful location.More

This is the first time that we've visited 'The Boathouse' and it won't be the last. Their home cooked food was fantastic along with the service that we received. It was also nice to see that the staff stuck to the Cov'd Guidelines, even the...tables and seating outside were cleaned as soon as customers left. We can't wait to go back again in the future, well done to all concerned.More

Hi There. We are limited to service dogs in the building, but we welcome well behaved dogs on our decking area when the weather permits where we have water bowls available for them.
