This restaurant came highly recommended by travelers but our experience was less than impressive. First off the location is central and the decor is old and very cozy inside. Our waitress was very courteous and polite and the service was god over all; however, the menu was very limited and lacking. We were quite surprised that they did not have... More

We had a very good business lunch. The set menu is really good value at (I think) around £12.00 for 3 courses with decent sized portions and tasty food. Great service too. The restaurant is next to the Usher Hall so good transport links to get here. I'd happily come back here.

We went there first time for the Noodle Bow(Numtok Moo) as we were craving for Thai noodle. The portion is huge, luckily that we were recommended by stuff to order 1 for share. This is what i want since i came to Edinburgh. The soup was amazing which remind us of Thai food in our home country. Similar taste and... More

We visited on a Friday evening on a weekend break to Edinburgh. The menu was extensive, so much so we spent ages deciding what to have! We were thoroughly impressed, the food was super fresh and utterly delicious. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Cannot recommend highly enough. Just delicious.

We really loved the food in this restaurant, the staff were very attentive without being too much. The fish cakes were delicious, authentic and very tasty. I had the duck with red curry and that was also delicious. My friends had the mixed starters with chicken green curry and thoroughly enjoyed the meal.

We stumbled into this place on a whim and were ecstatic! They have a lovely atmosphere with very friendly and helpful staff. They also have very pleasant ambiance music. The food was amazing! The hot and sour soup alone gives this place a high rating! It is so amazing we are likely coming here every day we are in town.... More

We went for evening meal prior to cinema. The Thai fish cakes are spongy and tasteless. The duck dish was...average at best. Tofu main for my friend was poor. Busy with some atmosphere but forgettable food.

Booked this little restaurant as a spur of the moment for a meal with family. It was first class - pleasant attentive staff, a nice menu and range of dishes - all cooked perfectly. Nice wine to accompany the food at a reasonable price. Very enjoyable.

I was recommended this restaurant by the owner of The Ginger Twist Yarn shop. I,m glad I asked. We were a walk in of 4 on Saturday night and they were busy but accommodated us. It was hard to choose from the menu as there was lots of choice. We all really enjoyed our dinner. Very good Thai. Not all... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
