We were lucky enough to get breakfast as part of our stay at this lovely spot. Not only were we treated to a fantastic selection (buffet and a la carte) but the staff was friendly and helpful. It was just what we needed to start the day of sightseeing. If the rest of the menu is anything as good as... More

Fab food, great portions with a set menu deal which was very good value for money. Very accommodating especially when there was dishes not available.

Stayed for a couple of nights with my wife Amazingly friendly staff It was very quite so no atmosphere in the bar/lounge, not even background music Drinks and responsibly priced Great location, just have some good sturdy shoes Room was ok (25) EXCEPT, we were in a lower room and there were bins outside the window who someone decided to... Food waiter and bar staff were excellent. The hotel is very interesting and packed full of fabulous photographs and other fine regimental items. We were there for a wedding and that part of the day was excellent. The only part that spoiled it was the fact that when I booked I punched Royal Scots Club into Google and it came... More

We were residents and invited guests to dine with us on strength of previous visits. Once again not disappointed, very good reasonably priced meal and efficient service.

I visited the Royal Scots Club for a Christmas lunch early December. Although the food was perfectly pleasant and eatable, it was also quite average and a bit like Christmas dinner at the in-laws. Well, the food that is - the company I was in made it a lovely night, but we could have spent the same amount elsewhere and... More

Stayed in this popular club using one of two four poster bedrooms. The ambience was very good, the food was good and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Would recommend and will be using again on our next visit to Edinburgh. Membership available to take advantage of extra savings and facilities.

Staying at a club is the nicest ...the hospitality and charm are something else. The Club is so centrally located..overlooking a lush green Queens Street park. The room was large, bright, airy and spacious and had a coffee maker!! The staff were nice and accommodated us with an early breakfast before we headed out for the day!

Old hotel with a lot of history complete with creaky floorboards. Lots of charming features. Lovely cooked breakfast kept me going until way past lunchtime. Great location for exploring Edinburgh.

Thank Chris W

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
