We were a party of 4 who all like steak and burgers. The service in the restaurant was good however the food was poor. The starter of wings was good, the black pudding stack was underwhelming. My steak was very thin and tough and my...More

Came here before a show at the festival. Was really disappointed with the steak and the steak chips. Steak wasn't anything special (bit dry) and the chips tasted like they were cooked in yesterday's oil. Female waitress was lovely though. Was really looking forward to...More

I made a reservation almost five months in advance, and I'll tell you what, it was worth the wait!! I had a glorious T-bone steak and mashers, and it was the best steak I have ever eaten! Bar-none!! It's not a huge place, but the...More

I have now visited twice and had a delicious steak, cooked to perfection on both occasions with interesting garnish and tasty chips. The ambience is veryrelaxed, service is good. A really good no nonsense food establishment. I will be visiting again soon

Been advised to book beforehand, just as well as it is not a large establishment, very attentive staff who were able to advise on what was on offer. We settled on Rib Eye Steaks which were melt in the mouth together with a peppercorn sauce,...More

We recently visited Mckirdy's as a party of four. The restaurant is not flashy but has a warm welcoming feel about it if perhaps a little dated. I felt we were crammed in a bit with a table struggling to hold all that was required...More

West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in
industrial Britain had their most desirable
neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes.
Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest
citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind
grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel
crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and
sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along
