Stopped here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Had to wait a little bit for a table, but it was worth it. I had the homemade soup, which was delicious. My daughter had a sandwich and my husband had the ploughman's plate, both of which were good. We wished we had stopped by here for tea and cake, rather than... More

It was good to find this lovely little tea room after walking the length of the Royal Mile with one tourist restaurant after another. Real homemade food in a calm and quiet setting. My lentil soup was delicious, as was my husband's quiche, and the tea and cakes were yummy. Excellent service. All in all a great choice.

On a cold wintersday it's lovely (yeah, let's use that word ;-) ) to be here. The food is excellent and the tea delicious. One thing they could improve (and that's for tourists) is making a setmenu that includes tea and food.

This was exactly what I thought a tea room would look like😊Quaint and the bakery items, especially the scones with clotted cream and jam were amazing! Great service and tea in a convenient location along the Royal Mile. Don't miss this tea room for breakfast or lunch❤

We found this tearoom while walking down the royal mile towards Hollywood. This is such a treat and perfect for afternoon tea. The cakes are just fantastic and decor to match.

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
