I’ve a soft spot for this place. I like that the cafe seating area is basically the Library’s open-plan shop. I like how the TVs are always tuned to show bus timetables and BBC News (you get to watch the subtitles live so you can...More

This was a very good exhibition of a very talented Author. Very interesting history of her life and a great selection of her records and letters of important events in her life time. Covers of all her books displayed well.

A lovely surprise as you venture into the National Library. A pleasant, quiet, special little cafe. Very reasonable prices. Wonderful.

nice place at the library, where you can get into one of the permanent exhibits as you walk up the stairs. They do a range of sandwiches, cakes, soup and a variety of teas.

If you are in this part of town this is very handy for a quick coffee, light lunch or cup of tea. Nothing fancy but you can usually get a table.

Come here often for coffee. Think their soft drinks are a bit steep though at £2 per bottle. I really like their fruit scones with jam and butter. They are always nice and soft, as I hate it when scones are lying for a while...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its

that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
