Popped in today after my cycle.,located on promenade and overlooks the beach. Always busy, tables outside too. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, bright and airy with the best cake selection. Especially like the gluten free options. Not the cheapest place but friendly staff and quality of food and location, justify the cost.

What a little gem this place is. Nicely located on the prom with nice decor. Staff are generally attentive and efficient. We were there mid to late afternoon and the delicious cakes were almost evaporating in front of our eyes! Very popular. Yes it is a bit pricey but they are trying to buy local and ethical so worth it... More

My boyfriend and I went here for a late breakfast (served till 11.30). Both had a bacon and egg roll and it was very yummy. Lovely views overlooking Portobello beach and very pretty shabby chic interior. Timed our arrival perfectly as when we left customers were queueing out of the door to get in.

We went to The Beach House on Saturday afternoon for a late lunch and found it busy despite it being a very cold and windy day. The food was good quality for a cafe. We were a bit chilly so they could do with more heating. Staff were nice. Would go back on a warmer day!

Love that this place is doing really well after so many years of neglect. The coffees are good if a bit expensive, but there doesn't seem to be too much on offer food wise... hopefully this will improve as the place expands. But a great inclusion as you take a walk along the Silverknowes Promenade, especially when it is warm... More

We arrived unplanned on a sunny and ver busy Sunday just after 12 noon noting a queue of folk waiting to be seated. We were told about a five minute wait; however, both we and the other in the queue of about 9 were seated well within that time. The service was tremendous; table cleared and cleaned before we sat... Visited here with my girlfriend for a late lunch. Loved the decor and location, was very cosy and welcoming. The food was great, no complaints. The only thing which could be improved (hugely) was the staff, waitresses were very much a hit or miss, it took forever for our table to be cleared despite a nearly empty cafe and multiple... More

Great location on promenade to have homemade cake and coffee whilst taking in the views of the seaside and people watching anytime of the day. Great menu and reasonably priced.

Popped in here on a cold winter day for a bit of cake and hot chocolate. The decor is lovely and I like the feel of the Beach House. We sat by the window to enjoy the sea view. I had a hot chocolate and almond croissant but could have eaten any of the gorgeous looking cakes. The waitress was... More

Very nice. However we found the menu a little restricted to OUR liking. I'm sure many would enjoy it and there was something we really enjoyed. However it was the same as we had the first time we went. Cakes looked amazing, staff were lovely. Only down side was the wait to be given a seat (10 mins) as they... More

The Beach House is a beach-side café on Portobello promenade (Edinburgh's Seaside). The cafe serves award winning Organic coffees, delicious breakfasts of croissants, scones or poached eggs & bacon; for lunch our menu includes sandwiches, panini, delicious salads and heart warming soups. We also offer a range of special breads – focaccia, seaweed; wholemeal and fresh baguettes. For afternoon tea, why not try our range of fabulous cakes.

From inside, customers look out onto the shimmering expanse of the Forth; seagulls wheeling, ships steaming, surf crashing, kids playing, its location is as good as it gets.

One reviewer put it 'The Beach House is simply café perfection'.

Come and find us on the Promenade at the foot of Bath Street, Portobello.
