My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at this mall, stylish restaurant. It was so good, we went back to Angels with Bagpipes our last night. It is right in the heart of Edinburg’s main tourist area, so we were pleasantly surprised at the beautiful space with wooden floors and neutral color make it quite simply, romantic and a... More

We stopped here for lunch because of good ratings but were a bit disappointed. Servers friendly and quick. Tried the Haggis. At least it comes as a small helping. If on a budget this isn't the place to go.

Just outside saint Giles cathedral in Edinburgh. Sofisticate and beautiful atmosphere where dishes are presented in a very professional and designed way. I loved everything I tasted, from the soup to the risotto and beef. Prices are very very fair (2 soups, one risotto and one beef= 2 courses menus and two bottled waters) =43 pounds. I will try to... Excellent food, lovely environment, great staff. I would definitely visit this restaurant again. Partner and I booked in for lunch on the Easter Bank Holiday Monday. Whilst it was busy in the main street, this restaurant was chilled and relaxed - felt like a real fine dining experience. We would recommend that proper foodies visit.

This quiet restaurant was a wonderful break from the hubbub of the "Royal Mile". I chose the lunch special. For starters it was tasty potato and leek soup with creamy blue cheese and chive accent. The beef with red cabbage and creamy potatoes was divine! The beef was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside the savory au... More

Lovely food in a lovely restaurant that's very unassuming from the outside. The hagis, rabbit and lamb were all lovely.

We ate our last meal in Edinburgh here, modern and well turned out with excellent staff. Our party was 8 and there was no complaints at all and for the quality the price wasn't excessive. I had the crab as a starter nice portion but me being a the size of a silverback would have liked 3 times the amount... More

Walking distance from everywhere The service was lovely and my food was second to none I tried the easter bonnet cocktail that was a lovely novelty drink to celebrate the weekend, I highly recommend the beef tartar for starters And I had the venison that... We had such a wonderfully romantic lunch. Service was superb as was the polenta and crab salad. Lunch was topped off with delectable desserts! We had a nice apple compote and chocolate brownie. Both were amazing! Book ahead to ensure they have a table for you.

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
