Dined here as two couples ---so we got a good cross section of the food on offer--we had 5 pm vouchers from a meal offer---The food was excellent --freshly cooked and generous servings for all--rather an unusual atmosphere---and decor too---but you just adjust --cannot fault the service or the food--its a pity that the place is tucked away off lothian... Do you ever visit these places in Edinburgh, trendy bars where the staff are too-cool-for-school and lack a warmth and friendliness? The city is FULL of these hipster places - and I quite like some of them but also hope for welcoming service. Lebowski staff: yes, it's kind of cool to be able to perfect all those cocktails, but please... More

We popped in here on a recent visit to Edinburgh, as my boyfriend is a big fan of the film. We both ordered cocktails, each a different variation of the White Russian. Both drinks were delicious and good value for money.

Went in for lunch which at £5 was a good deal, especially when the food was decent. Didn't indulge in the white Russians on this occasion but can vouch for them and the burgers. As for the film...a must see classic!

We came for a drink here after a meal in town. This place really lacks any character- disappointing.

I took some friends from down south here as they had read about the Gutterball (Buckfast White Russian) and wanted to try it. We decided to stay for food as the smell of burgers is enough to make someone with no appetite instantly become hungry and, at ~£10 for a burger with fries, the food is averagely priced for the... 'The Big Lebowski' showing on the television, selection of Lebowski themed cocktails and a very passable burger and wedges - great music too. Plus, we heard the super 'Main Street Blues' band here a year or so ago..we'll be back.

I was sold on the name and concept alone, but toss in reasonably priced drinks, excellent ambiance, and more White Russian options than you'll know what to do with, and you have a recipe for an amazing night!

Went for birthday drinks. the staff were exceptionally friendly and even went out to buy almond milk so they could make me vegan white Russian - so kind. Lovely atmosphere as well, would definitely recommend! Good price for Edinburgh cocktails.

Popped in here with 3 workmates after enjoying a meal out in Edinburgh. Good service from bar staff, nice laid back feel to the place, Edinburgh prices paid, but we all enjoyed our visit. Would certainly return again, perhaps to eat and drink.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
