What cracking pub, restaurant and hotel. Popped in here after an arduous cycle along the canal. We ate in the bar (we were a bit scruffy and sweaty). Service was really friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and we'll presented. Looked like the beer was good but on this occasion I was to be driving so ginger beer for... More

I got to know this gorgeous location because I actually ride along the canal every week and when I reach The Bridge Inn, I smell the lovely and appetizing steak... I can't wait to taste it, my mouth is watering! Unfortunately, I have to say that I've never tried anything from the menu, I've been three times and the truth... More

I was lucky enough to be included in a private dinner on one of the Bridge Inn's barges. 15 of us dined with excellent food and wine and the whole thing was a treat. Despite the challenging logistics and discerning diners, the staff looked after us very well and the whole evening was thoroughly enjoyable

A grand pub with good range of beers and a nice distance for a cycle along the canal for a tasty pub lunch

You definitely need to book! Very busy place, not for a romantic evening. The food is good but a bit pricey for what it is. Had quite a wait for our food, maybe they are trying to cram too many people in?

Due to an unexpected visit of relatives from south of the border we gave The Bridge Inn very little notice of a booking for our party (& subsequent increased numbers). Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, but in truth we expected this having on different occasions eaten there as a family and also held small celebrations in both... More

We enjoyed a lovely early evening meal at the Bridge Inn. The food, staff and ambience were great, and very family friendly too with toys on hand to entertain our little one and good baby changing facilities.

Throughout lunch, the waitress was particularly attentive, and very friendly, without being intrusive. She helped us decide our selections with excellent knowledge of the food and the dishes of the day. My Sea Bass was grilled to perfection and accommpanying sauce and garnish was perfect. Others had haddock and a burger (kids) with which they were delighted. Not a difficult... More

Good morning Graeme, Thanks for this wonderful review! The food and service makes The Bridge Inn a special place to dine. The head chef spends a great amount of his time with our servers, ensuring they have knowledge of each of his dishes. The sea bass dish has recently changed and receiving excellent feedback. I look forward to welcoming you... More

Description
The Bridge Inn at Ratho is situated on the banks of The Union Canal, 7 miles to the west of Edinburgh in the picturesque village of Ratho. Graham and Rachel Bucknall took over the Bridge Inn in 2010 and have undertaken an extensive refurbishment project to maximise the space and to create a beautiful restaurant overlooking the canal, a terrace over the water, as well as four beautiful bedrooms and a cosy fire lit bar.We pride ourselves on not just producing great food, but also on working with our suppliers to give you the best of Scottish produce. Our menu is put together by our Head Chef Ben and changes with the seasons. We always feature our ever popular pub favourites, like fresh haddock with hand-cut chips or our pie of the week. The restaurant features venison, hake, pigeon, salmon and hand-dived scallops alongside our beautiful 35-day hung beef. In season we have locally-shot game.We grow and rear much of our own produce, and our Head Chef Ben and our gardener Charlie work together to put the freshest food on your plate - often the same day it was picked. Our walled garden, 200 yards along the canal towpath, produces the freshest seasonal vegetables throughout the year. We grow our own carrots, potatoes, leeks, spinach, cabbages, salad leaves and much more. Our own apples and rhubarb are used in our crumble - even our own nettles, delicious in our homemade nettle soup.We breed our own saddleback pigs, who live outside in the fresh air and are looked after by all the family - we know that a happy pig produces the tastiest meat. You will regularly find our menus featuring pork loin, fillet, belly, sausages and crackling, all from our own pigs.
