I went here with a few friends after a relatively quiet night out. We had only previously been to a boozy dinner, drinks, a few bars and one other club. First off they let us straight in with out alcohol which was great. As the night went on we bough plenty of "specials" and other such drinks. eventually We cracked... More

Haha I am surprised by such a low rating for this place.. my first impression was not that bad about this one. Decent dance floor. Good options for drinks. But yes, not deserving a 4 or a 5. But I believe it was a good night out for us guys this month.

I was at Garibaldi's (briefly) two nights ago. The door-staff appeared to let in far more people than the venue could safely hold. After a few minutes downstairs, I wanted to get out of the venue because I did not feel safe so decided to walked immediately behind a bouncer who was trying to get through the heaving mass of... Went here for late drinks - it's a last bar/club option in Edinburgh. A basement bar which will not be the classiest establishment u ever visited. Although the drinks are cheap, and the atmosphere is friendly the place was absolutely rammed. You could not move/dance/breathe! I'm sure there were more people in there than legally allowed. If a fire happened... More

Don't go here.WAY to expensive for a drink, the people are rude and they charge a cover even if no one is in the bar. Probably the worst night out I've had in all my travels throughout Europe. I know I might sound super particular and psycho but Im telling you - not worth the hassle and disappointment. Old town...... More

How they let that many people into one small below ground level area is beyond me. Get as many in for the £5 door fee perhaps?? Too busy, to the point of feeling claustrophobic and it wouldn't take much for someone to be injured from crushing. Won't be back.

Disappointing night on New Year eve 2016 as me and another black guy were refused entry while others entered. The manager said the owner decided no black customers in the club. Are we in 2016 or may be 1916 in another era? It deserves no stars but I am obligated to give something to post a review.

Went here after our graduation, small dance floor, over priced, bad music, over crowded and a genuinely bad club. If you wanna have a good night go to cab vol.

I was in Garibaldis last night and came outside to smoke. I was then told I was not allowed back in to the venue as I'd had too much to drink. When trying to explain in a reasonable manner that all of my stuff was inside such as my handbag/coat/flat keys and could one of them accompany me in to... More

As I said nothing to write home about, reasonable priced, good waiting staff, ordered steak, didn't look very appitazing when it came out, over done, thrown on plate with a few chips, piece of lettuce an a cherry tomatoe, had to ask for coleslaw to make a meal of it.

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
