rather a cold pub with a range of expensive drinks. The staff spent more time chatting then attending to customers. We did not try the food which looked lovely

Early morning reviver pint. Excellent friendly staff and a lovely tasty pint or 3 lol. Obviously very popular by the number of people coming and going when in and very early in the morning. Another excellent visit and will be back soon.

A group of us went for a tea time mid week meal. We each chose a different item of the menu and all enjoyed the food. The service was good and the food didn't take long to be served. We drank lager with our meal . The bill was around £13.50each

More of a tourist bar than a local hang out, Biddy Mulligans offered a fun night. With a wide variety of drinks to choose from and lots of different people to talk to we enjoyed our time here. As part of an organised tour group it was the place to meet others both from our tour and different tours alike.

So, popped in for a drink on Saturday lunchtime. The location is spot on, right near the castle, nice open market outside, lots going on. Lots of room, good seating. Lots of televisions showing sport. Nice and loud. Low ceilings. Good atmosphere. Ale well cared for, may be back later.

Popped in during lunchtime for a Guinness and haggis with neeps and tatties. Food came quickly and was tasty. Friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Good location near the castle and Royal Mile.

Terrible place to eat, ordered just general, easily prepared food and they managed to make a mess of it. Soup came in tiny bowls and was stone cold, chips that came with the main courses were also stone cold and the beefburger that was ordered was..... you've guessed it cold as well. Irish Stew, when it arrived was lukewarm but... More

Located in Edinburgh's Old Town, Biddy's is an Irish pub and restaurant on Grassmarket with a warm welcome and friendly atmosphere. Serving hearty dishes made with locally sourced produce the restaurant prides itself on authentic homemade cuisine as well as their extensive selection of Irish whiskies. Biddy's is open until 1am all week with live music every night and provides plenty of sports coverage, especially for hurling and Gaelic football.Scottish produce, Irish foodBiddy's may be an Irish pub and restaurant but their menu also features items such as grilled nachos with salsa, sour cream and guacamole, sweet potato and mixed bean burger and chilli con carne with boiled rice.Let the restaurant chefs tempt you with the full Irish fry - an all day breakfast consisting of bacon, sausage, a potato farl (tattie scone, to Scots), mushrooms, tomato, white pudding, beans and a fried egg. Alternatively, diners may opt for Biddy's Irish stew (Granny Fallon from County Longford's very own recipe), the mussel pot with caramelised onions, Guinness and parsley or the crispy breaded haddock with chips and peas. Just be sure to leave some room for the Baileys cheesecake for pudding.Old Town accessibility & transport linksBiddy's is on Grassmarket in the Old Town area of Edinburgh and is around fifteen minutes on foot from Waverley train station. A short distance from the Royal Mile and a pay and display parking area, bus stops and taxi ranks are also close to the restaurant.Free wifi access is available every day of the week, ideal if you've got a working lunch or just feel like a nosey on Facebook.

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
