Friendly service, Fish and chips to die for. We're lunchtime regulars there - and we haven't had a bad meal yet. Highly recommended!

Fantastic lunch with the guys last week. Burgers are always excellent value and the Black & Blue is a personal favourite "no salad required". Great friendly staff and a superb pint of Tennent's to wash the burger down. We will return soon for more of...More

Service quality was quite low. Besides requesting you to go to the bar for any orders you may want to do, the attention they drove to us and the interest demonstrated was significantly lower than in the rest of places in this lovely city. In...More

Wanted to have something to eat and drink before catching a show at the Lyceum, had planned to eat at the Thai opposite the theatre but decided on the Shakespeare instead. Warm welcome with great service. Food was tasty and well priced, would recommend

Nice bar which I visit every time I m in Edinburgh. Good selection of real ales, and good well cooked food to accompany. Friendly staff make this a good place to eat or drink

Uptown visiting the festival so we popped in for lunch, although the pub was fairly busy we managed to get a table. Ordered at the bar, staff were very pleasant and service was good. Enjoyed our lunch very much and will be back again soon.

West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in
industrial Britain had their most desirable
neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes.
Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest
citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind
grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel
crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and
sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along
