The Starbucks royal mile is in a good location. Unfortunately the service is wicked slow and the baristas are rude. Don't bother. There are 6-10 other stores within a mile radius.

This Starbuck's was located a block from our Hotel off the Royal Mile. First thing every morning I would walk over and get two large coffees and a couple of scones to take back to the hotel. Great way to start the day.

We visited this Starbucks on the Christmas Day for breakfast when almost nothing else was open! Quality is standard as one would expect from Starbucks.

Starbucks always is good coffee when you travel, the only difference is the bakery choices and drink names

This is a busy cafe and always had a queue when we were inside. The staff were quick and efficient as well as the coffee tasting very good. I was impressed.

Although very busy they dealt quickly with getting the drinks out. Friendly staff; drinks as expected. Toilets and additional seating is upstairs.

The cafe is in a good location and it is fast service. We sat upstairs. We had never been in a Starbucks place before and were in a rush so were pleased about that. Our friends had a light snack which was okay. However the Cappuccino 'coffee' was awful. Did it actually contain any coffee? Overpriced. Very disappointing. Sadly we will... More

I have been unwell and required a drink. They were excellent in getting me a seat and serving me. The customer service was second to none. Faultless. Great credit to Starbucks

I really liked the place. You can get your coffee and then go and sit upstairs, the view is quite nice! There are many tables to sit upstairs but only a few outside. I wouldn't recommend going in the afternoon because it's too crowded and you can wait even 20 minutes to get your coffee.

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
