Sugarhouse has become one of my favourite places in Edinburgh, and it has become a Sunday brunch time habit. Very quaint and cozy, and the food and the drinks are really lovely. Often, if there is no where to sit I take away my coffee...More

Very quaint... a great place somewhat hidden in the midst of the tourist shops is this great little coffee shop. When I say little, I mean it: 3 tables inside and two outside. We had coffee, 2 sandwiches (fresh, delicious and loads of choice) and...More

A cosy little cafe on the Royal Mile with a wide selection of sandwiches, panini's, focaccia's and bagels which caters very well for vegetarians. We especially enjoyed choosing from the exotic options; Nicky had a toasted bagel with goats cheese and a mango chutney with...More

We popped in for coffee and panini and it was really delicious! A small place with only a few tables but really cosy. They also have vegeterian and vegan alternatives - a big plus!

This is a small, unassuming place with great food. We ate there for breakfast and lunch and the food was equally good both times. Homemade, fresh, and creative, with pleasant staff and quirky surroundings. Would highly recommend.

This is an excellent cafe. My guests and I ordered the raspberry muffins and fruit scones. Both were reasonably priced and delicious. The owner was very friendly and welcoming, and I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with her.

We stopped by for lunch and were surprised by the delicious two soups available, the best we've had during the 5 weeks we've been traveling around the UK. Good sandwiches also and good service.

Great little place. Fast service, superb prices. The panini i had was one of the best I've ever had (falafel and hummus). And the carrot cake was easily among my top 5 cakes! We'll be coming back here next time we're on Edinburgh.

A fabulous coffee shop serving great sandwiches, cakes, scones, coffee and tea. The staff are welcoming and the seating area is warm and cosy. I had a scone with jam and a pot of tea which was quite simply delicious. Definitely worth a visit when...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
