Suggested by a friend as a great Central meeting place with great coffee. Exactly right. Warm friendly atmosphere. Helpful staff and good food. I'll be going back

Was here with 2 of my friends this afternoon. Coffee Shop looks rather small. Good for a take away coffee, but not for dinning really. What if you need to pee? Or wash your hands after a wee snack? Really disappointed a coffee shop with no washroom or toilet. After ordering I asked staff any toilets? Staff said we don't... More

Always try to come here even though it's surrounded by Costa/Starbucks etc.... Coffee is good. Service not so much. Also allowing people to smoke at the outside tables is super grim - we often won't go in due to the smokers. Mentioned it today and was told " they'd rather have the smokers". Fine, I'll never be back, there's plenty... More

Called in while on a long shopping trip along Princess Street. Saw one of the big brand signs and started walking towards it but then saw this independent coffee house. So pleased we did, really good couple of flat whites and a nice cake.

The best coffee shop you will find in the centre of town. Small with very friendly service & a good loyalty program.

As someone who works in the centre of town this place provides an absolutely brilliant place to go during breaks. Me and a friend of mine frequently drop by for our Mocha and Flat White and are never disappointed.

I love to get a coffee from Castello every morning - they are the only shop I know of that uses Oat Milk instead of soy, which tastes divine in a flat white! I also love to visit for lunch; the soups are always vegetarian with usually one vegan option, and come in two hearty and well priced sizes with... More

We stopped for coffee and a panini at this coffee shop. Both the coffee and food were very good. The staff were also very welcoming and provided good service.

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
