My husband and I were looking for a non "touristy" place close to our hotel ( just off the Royal Mile) . We found that in this small intimate restaurant. We had appetizers, main course ( tornadoes of beef you could cut with a fork...More

We were there to try Scottish food. So we ordered 3 starters, 2 desert and one main dish for two of us to share. We were told only after settling down that everyone must order main dish and can't share. So we chose the next...More

We had a great meal here. Just down off the Royal Mile in a small room (24 seats) with a tiny looking kitchen, wonderful food in an intimate setting. Highly recommended for good reason. Traditional Scottish fare, deliciously prepared. Can't fault the food at all.

This is an amazing restaurant, serving great Scottish fare. The haggis was great. I followed this up with the venison with a jus, absolutely beautiful. Followed this up with Atholl Brose (ice cream flavoured with Drambuie, honey and toasted oats), just too good!

We really enjoyed the food, it was very tasty and the settings were lovely. The only let down was the shortbread dessert which seemed to be entirely lemon mouse with an incredibly thin biscuit layer.

We found this place on TripAdvisor and had haggis, mushroom soup, venison and angus beef - all turned out to be wonderful. The service was warm and friendly. I would recommend this place for a taste of traditional Scottish dishes.

A very small, intimate locale with wonderful service and some of the best food in Edinburgh. The sole was perfectly cooked, delicate, delicious; the venison was beyond words. All ingredients are fresh and sourced in Scotland. A must visit.

This is where trip advisor is so great. As the entrance to this restaurant is so small and unassuming that you might not see it. But you would miss a treat, the menu is not large but all locally sourced. We had soups, the west...More

Was looking forward to this meal for weeks, as we had booked a weekend in Edinburgh, and we were not disappointed. The food was - to be honest- rather simple, a pleasant change, and perhaps not as "posh" as some of the establishments on the...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
