We had an 'offer' ( Chateau Briand , Bottle of Wine) The steak was superb as was the wine. We did have a starter which was extra but well worth it. Service ould not have been better. Strongly recommend this place.

Visited late Feb and really enjoyed it! I had the salmon which was cooked beautifully and my fiance had a chicken dish which she said was nice. Although the food was lovely and the service was great we did find the prices a bit steep for what we were getting.

Excellent ambiieance, attentiive first class service, food very good but lobster not as good as elsewhere. Quite expensive at circa £100 a head so has to be for a very special night out.

Wonderful dinner with my wife. Gorgeous ambience, low lit corner settee with round table, wonderful friendly smooth smart service and fantastic food and wine. Had the chef's 4-course taster menu with accompanied wines. Absolutely divine food. Expensive but worth it. Will remember it forever and will be back.

Went as a four for my mother-in-laws birthday. Excellent, professional service that also managed to feel informal and relaxed. Special mention to the sommelier who tolerated my pretensions of wine knowledge and very kindly (with zero fuss) changed a not inexpensive bottle of that we thought had gone south. The food across the board was superb and enjoyed by all;... More

From start to finish this did not disappoint. The decor and service was impeccable, the food fantastic. We decided on the a la carte menu, but still ended up with 7 courses of food, the flavours for every course just exploded on your tongue. We even left with a bar of home made fudge, with happy birthday on it. A... More

Took my boyfriend for his 30th and it was an incredible experience. The seven course taster menu didn't disappoint with what felt like endless courses coming out. We added on the cheese which was also wonderful. A lovely place to go and get dressed up for a special occasion.

Description
Memorable flavours and world-class cuisine. A truly outstanding culinary experience, worthy of its Michelin star for the 13th consecutive year. As one of the finest Edinburgh restaurants, 'Number One' presents an innovative blend of Scottish and French flavours. Saute Foie Gras with duck confit. Borders lamb, broad beans and grelot. Rhubarb and white chocolate panna cotta. Take a seat on the golden banquettes and sample some of Scotland's most creative dishes from our tasting menus. Equally striking are the original artworks from The Royal College of Art that hang on the red lacquered walls.

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
