A Lovely welcome by John set the scene for a really enjoyable early evening meal. Much more than the average pub meal and a great wine list. Our choices which included oystres weren't a budget option but we were happy to push the boat out...More

Nice location on Leith waterfront. This place has been around a while for good reason. I think owned by the same folks as Fishers next door. Great food and character. Recommended.

Very good interior with a sort of lived in look with rather cool jazz playing. The sweet potato and coriander soup was excellent. I had the steak and my wife had the fish pie and both were excellent. Had to wait 1 hour for the...More

We didn't expect to eat so well. We got a fish pie and fish and chips and they were both very tasty. The desserts were good and well-presented. Staff friendly and professional. We really liked it!

My partner and I come here periodically and have never been less than delighted with our meals. Last night I took a visiting guest and she was mightily impressed too. We shared the grilled halloumi & orange salad (very tasty) and both opted for the...More

Chicken, sea bass, potatoes and dessert were fine. Unfortunately we found a worm/ sea insect from the fresh oyster, it was very disgusting and we overwhelmed by fear during the lunch. Price was not cheap and not expensive.

We had dinner here (two adults and two teenagers) during our trip to Edinburgh (our flat was in leith). The fish was delicious, we had two 'grown up' fish dishes, which were rather nice and original in their sides, and according to the two teenargers,...More

This restaurant is a bit of an institution. We hadn't been in the area for a few years and so decided for old times sake to dine here. Every bit as good as we remembered. The menu was excellent and the food was cooked to...More

Of course, all RESTAURANTS welcome small well behaved animals into their dining rooms. Well, so long as they are registered service dogs... #wow

Description
Situated on the Leith waterfront, The Shore is the ideal destination for those wishing to spend an evening in Edinburghs historic port. Boats line the harbourside where the sun sets slowly on hot summer nights, making The Shore a quiet and idyllic location: perfect for a relaxing evening and an intimate meal. The ambience is warm and charming, enhanced by the traditional and candlelit dcor of informal 18th century wood panelling, huge mirrors and real fires. The cuisine fuses classic British dishes with a modern European twist; we love the pecan-crusted fillet of ostrich, served with blue cheese dauphinoise potatoes and green beans. After dinner, head to the bar, where live entertainment is provided most evenings by local jazz and folk musicians.
