Been a year since last visit and yet again another fantastic meal. Great flavours, great quality and delish margarita pitcher. Very friendly attentive staff, can't wait to go again. I can recommend the chilli chocolate flan too 😍

Really pleased with my experience here. I normally stick to fajitas so branched out a little bit with tostadas and very glad I did. The cocktails were delicious and the price was quite reasonable. Good service as well

I am a huge fan of the Mexican food, so we were looking forward to trying this place. However, we were let down with the food. The Nachos chips were so bland, it seemed like the pack was open for a long time. It was...More

Lovely food - simple and freshly cooked. Staff made it a special night for my friend’s birthday by adding candles to her dessert, singing happy birthday and putting a giant sombrero on her head! Great fun.

Very good Mexican food in Old Town, just 5 minutes from our hotel! It was a nice break from burgers, pies and fries. And it was muy delicioso! The restaurant is cute, with ample seating, pleasant service, and reasonable prices. I’d certainly revisit if we...More

My favourite Mexican restaurant in Edinburgh and I've tried most of them. The haggis and cheese quesadillas for a starter are amazing, the slow cooked beef Chimichanga's are delicious and the chocolate chilli cheesecake is outstanding. They did tacos and fajitas and all the other...More

I was planning to go to a nearby restaurant the other night but decided to go here instead. It is a very intimate cantina/restaurant serving Mexican food. The waitresses were very friendly and attentive and I got a table at street level which is quite...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

Description
The Gonzalez family opened Viva Mexico in August 1984, intending to bring the true taste of Mexico to Edinburgh, and 31 years later we are still striving to do the same. In the intervening years there have been many changes, notably in how the restaurant has grown, but we are still trying to do what we set out to do all those years ago - to give all our guests a real flavour of Mexico. With three rooms spread over two floors the restaurant is equally suited for romantic dinners for two, quick business lunches or parties, the back room particularly can cater for a single group of up to 25 seated at tables or 40 as a buffet.
