Came across this smart, small restaurant on a Saturday lunchtime. Delicious food just like Italy. Definitely worth a visit.

Four of us had lunch from the Christmas menu and each course was excellent! Beautiful small restaurant with a great atmosphere and one of the best Christmas lunches I've had in any of the Edinburgh restaurants so far! First class service and wonderful food and drink! Who could ask for more! I hope I can fit in another lunch before... More

A nice, cosy, friendly restaurant with a good selection of food and wines. The waiters were helpful and overall it was great value for money

An Italian friend of a friend recommended this restaurant as the best Italian in Edinburgh. It is small, 20 covers, cosy and intimate and the waiters are delightful, friendly and attentive but the food, although good was not, in our opinion as good as Mia in Dalry road. I love minestrone soup but their's, although good, was nothing special. Also,... More

Very few Italian restaurants are serving food exactly as you would find in Italy itself, but when it's this good, who cares? This is a small, intimate space opposite Haymarket - best to book. You are assured of the warmest of welcomes from the maitre d' and of great food. There's nothing modern about the menu. It contains many of... More

This is one of the best restaurants in Edinburgh (and ought to be on the top 10 in Tripadvisor). La Bruschetta is a tiny, smart restaurant opposite Haymarket station offering Italian cuisine of a very high standard. Prices are higher than average, but this reflects the quality. This is a very small restaurant and advance booking is to be strongly... More

We ended up visiting this restaurant two nights in a row because the food was so excellent! The restaurant itself is tiny - booking recommended on Friday / Saturday nights - but has a great atmosphere, and the waiters are also very friendly and helpful. The menu is quite varied for a small restaurant and I'm still thinking about the... More

Wonderful service; friendly and knowledgeable. Lovely atmosphere and absolutely beautiful food. Bellisima! Upmarket Italian, but certainly worth the money. Don't expect a cheap pizzeria.

We've been coming here for a few years now and know that we will be eating wonderfully cooked food, tasting fine wine and being looked after by the two very professional and unobtrusive waiters. La Bruschetta is a small and intimate restaurant and you know you are in for a treat as soon as you step in and are shown... More

Our cab driver recommended this restaurant as he was dropping us off at our hotel just around the corner, describing it as "a small place with good Italian food." Boy, did he undersell the place! There are only seven tables, so yes it is a small place. We went early (1830) and found the place empty - less than 15... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
