Had the venison and it was excellent. Cooked medium just as requested. Really nice and comfortable interior. Lucia was waitress and she was great. Definitely worth the stop!! And right on the Royal Mile!!

We went there for dinner. It was overclouded but they let us stay in the bar, have a beer and wait until a table is free. We had a steak, haggis, soups and some beers. There was live music after 10 pm. A pleasant place as a whole.

Spent the weekend in Edinburgh and went for tea on Saturday night. The food was great and portion sizes good. Felt really satisfied couldn't eat all my dessert . Wasn't overpriced considering the location would recommend it, very lively and friendly.

The food (and drinks) was awesome, but the service was not the best. Try the venison and (of course) the whisky and enjoy a quality meal right on the Royal Mile!

We came late on a Friday. They were packed and their kitchen was closing in 15 min, so we came back the next day. Their food was delicious. We had the haggis, cullen skink, chicken, and fish. Everything, especially the haggis & cullen skink, was amazing! I kept ordering cullen skink everywhere we ate all over Scotland, and this one... More

My boyfriend and I went to Whiski over the weekend following seeing reviews of it on Trip Advisor and we were quite frankly baffled as to how anyone likes this place. When we arrived we were shown to a table by a grumpy waitress who was clearly annoyed to be working Good Friday. When we went to order the waitress... More

We had a great experience at Whiski this past week in Edinburgh. It was our last meal of the vacation and did not disappoint! They were quite busy when we arrived but the staff kept us in close mind and we had a table within 20 minutes - despite a packed dining area. We enjoyed the Fish and Chips, Scottish... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
