We stumbled upon Hula when looking for a light lunch. Very happy with the large choice of healthy food, delicious juices and cakes. The staff are friendly and the place is always busy on weekends. The service is quick but you don't feel rushed. All in all, a very positive cafe, I highly recommend it!

Came here with high hopes and expectations of cracking coffee, delicious food and great service. Waited in a queue for 10 minutes for food only to be told that it was table service. Drinks all came at different times and the waitress has no idea what was happening. She approached us twice asking what it was we had ordered. Staff... More

So usually when we're out and about we have to hunt for somewhere that does Gluten free options as my wife has intolerances me being one of them I'm told. Not so here the menu was very easy to understand and the staff ever helpful in explaining what was available gluten, dairy and wheat free and that they would mix... More

I had superfresh ginger/carrotjuice, it was terrific. Also a peanutbutter-bananasmoothie, lovely! The caramelbrownie was soft & perfect. The blueberryporridge with honey was delicious.

Having researched the top breakfast locations in Edinburgh, I was keen to visit Hula Juice Bar and Gallery during a short trip to the city with my Mum. It was most definitely worth a visit, enduring a 25 minute walk in Storm Doris! The cafe is an excellent option for anyone seeking a healthy breakfast in the Old Town, offering... More

This place was a real find! We had lunch here consisting of soup and sandwiches followed by coffee and buns. Everything was really tasty and well priced. As a coeliac, it was great to find somewhere where I could get gluten free soup with bread as well as a selection of lovely cakes! The coffee was superb too. A must... More

I came in here for a coffee and stayed for an hour or 2... the coffee was good and the staff were very pleasant. Was a nice environment to sit, chill surf the net (free wifi btw), with a mix of classic rock music playing in the background 🤘 Would come back again to try the breakfast... they had some... More

Great for fruity smoothies and juices, with healthy options for food too. I asked to swap the coconut milk for almond milk in my smoothie and staff were happy to do so. Always bustling with tourists and locals alike.

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
