Montieths caught our eye the first day we were exploring Edinburgh. You walk by Montieths Close and see arched branches with little lights. So we decided to eat here our 2nd night in town. Made 6pm reservations for Sunday. Go down the close and stairs...More

This place was recommended by the staff at our hotel. It is a small cocktail bar and restaurant down a narrow alleyway. The menu is interesting, and the food is very good and well presented. My lunch time risotto was perfectly cooked. The venison in...More

Recommended by the hotel we were staying in - cute little fairy light arch entrance into a heaving restaurant below. Food was great and we met the first of the 3 kiwi wait staff we have encountered in 24 hours in Edinburgh. Steaks were great...More

Walking in, I felt like Alice heading down the rabbit hole, but the inside of this restaurant was so cozy and inviting! We just has a drink, but if we would have had more time we would have been back for dinner. Very friendly staff.

This restaurant was recommended by the front desk receptionist when we checked in at the Radisson. It was literally a few steps away from our hotel and it did not disappoint us. Located in the heart of the city on High Street, it was a...More

We ran across Monteiths while walking down The Royal Mile and were attracted by the lighted twigs entry. We didn't have a reservation and although busy they welcomed us anyway. The interior was done in a hunting theme but contemporary, very interesting and pleasant. The...More

We booked this place on the day and could only get an early or late slot (i.e. 5.45 or 9.30 onwards). Judging from the reviews it wouldn't have been my first choice but given it was a Saturday we were limited in choice. The first...More

We have been there twice on their £38 deal. We would say that the steak was easily eaten and boy “it was so darn good.” We like it, very much. Excellent service too!

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

Description
Monteiths prides itself on using great quality ingredients that are locally sourced where possible. Provenance is hugely important and we work closely with our suppliers to ensure that our food comes from farm, to plate as quickly as possible. Although we frequently change our menu to reflect the changing seasons we also have a range of specials including dry aged fillet steaks and chateaubriand available. There is also a selection of seasonal dishes from the sea including fresh Scottish lobster and oysters. We also serve a wide range of hand crafted cocktails, beers & wines from around the world. Whether you're looking for lunch, dinner or drinks Monteiths on the Royal Mile is a must.
