We had a great meal here. Wonderful fish, chips & mushy peas. The only downside was that it was rather hot inside. We were in the back room. Of all the fish and chips places during our 10 day trip this had the best food.

Absolutely must make a reservation. We ate at the small restaurant but there is a takeaway fish bar as well. There was a great fresh fish selection on the chalk board, mussels were my choice and they were delish. Others had shrimp and fish &...More

The restaurant is walking distance from the Old Course. Although it is a small restaurant,it was bustling on a Sunday night when we arrived in St.Andrews. An abundance of fish dishes; fish and chips was very good and our servers were very attentive. They have...More

Visited here tonight after a 40 min drive. My 12yr old is coeliac and as they advertise gluten free fish and chips we thought this would be a nice treat. However upon arriving we were very disappointed to be told they were too busy to...More

Hi lorny Sorry we couldn't provide you with the gluten free batter last night. You are correct in assuming that during exceptionally busy periods it is not possible for us to fry gluten free fish. We use our gluten free chip fryers to fry our...More

My wife and I had looked forward to our meal at Tailend. It took over 40 minutes for our main courses to arrive after our starter - nothing extravagant just basic haddock and smoked haddock. Other tables beside us were served quickly. The food was...More

Hi George, Sorry for your wait last night, however you must have been aware that we were very busy. The restaurant was full and the takeaway had a queue out the door. 99% of our customers appreciate that we are trying our best, working under...More

We had made a reservation and were seated promptly at a rather early time for dinner. The eat-in restaurant is decorated in a very simple style that is closer to fast-food than anything more than that. Fine, but what was striking to us was how...More

Hi there Berating a restaurant online without first giving them the opportunity to rectify an issue is not really acceptable. Sure, sometimes we make mistakes, particularly under intensely busy periods, however our high rating is attributed, in part I believe, by our ability and assertiveness...More

Fish and chips are excellent. They had mussels on the specials board and they were out of this world. Appears to be the most popular seafood restaurant in St. Andrews for a reason. It's just good. Battered prawns in chili sauce were good. Friend reported...More

Excellent food and service. Best time to arrive if you do not have a reservation is around 4:30 or 5:00 to have a wonderful meal.

We are a family run fish bar and restaurant. We have been in the fish business for four generations and we hope to keep the family tradition going. All our fish is locally sourced and is as fresh as can be. We have our own fish house based in Arbroath, Where we are particularly famous for our Smokies! (Haddock cooked over a barrel, giving an intense smoked flavour) and our Humble Haddock is also a customer Favorite! We are passionate about seafood and it comes across in all our dishes from the Humble Haddock to our Seared Tuna steak! We carry a bespoke range of wines and whiskys suited to compliment your dish, just ask our serving staff for advice.
