As curry enthusiasts we used to use the Ashoka Southside regularly, but found it was lagging behind other local curry houses like the Turban, Alishan and the Anarkali, and so hadn't used it for months. We decided to give it another try and can safely say we won't be going back again. The menus seem dated, with limited selection for... More

My husband and use the Ashoka south side quite a lot.. However the last few times it has been really disappointing. Food tasted off and rice smelled.. really pricey too for what we had.. won't be getting take away from here again..

Our starters of haggis pakora, and two different chicken pakora dishes were quite nice but portions were on the small side. My traditional lamb currie was a bit bland, but the other chicken dishes went down well. Service was Ok but while staff were efficient there was little or no effort to make us welcome or indulge in any conversation.... More

Ate in here tonight for the first in a while. Main course was inedible, had weird taste, so I didn't eat it. The boiled rice was clearly microwave rice and not fresh.i was asked by the waiter if everything was alright. When I told him what was wrong the waiter/possibly the manager, gave no apology and charged us full price.... More

Great to have a local place that you can rely on. Whether it's for a takeaway or a sit in dinner it's always good. Visit maybe a dozen times a year and over 3-5 years is always good. Food usually spot on (fish pakora and Ra RA Gosht particularly good) If Raj is on waiting, service is really special. This... More

We often order takeaway from the Ashoka south side but as it was my wives birthday we decided to eat in the restaurant with our two children (3 months old and 3 year old). The staff were great and very attentive- especially Immy who looked after us for the most part. We went for the chefs combination platter to start... More

Curry devotees have been worshipping at the temple of Ashoka since the 80s. This, the chains Glasgow South Side branch, was created to appease folk from south of the river who loved the brand but hated the travel. Boasting an interior with a Last Days of the Raj meets style bar look, Ashoka has the kind of atmosphere which appeals more to bhuna babes than the middle aged lads on a rampage who frequent your average curry house. The interior may be pared down but the menu is packed with Indian favourites as well as house specialities, leaving even decisive diners with a difficult decision to make.
