My hubby and I were here on a Groupon Fish tea deal. The fish and chips were to a good standard and we were served by a very overworked and pleasant girl. The place itself is very retro which just adds to the experience.

Visited here in November had a fish tea in between pubs/gig. Have to say they were the best, chunky chips I have had for ages - not greasy at all, the fish was lovely and great pot of tea. The staff were friendly and funny and we will certainly go back the next time we are in the area -... More

Went for breakfast, food was cold, place dirty and standard of service absolutely terrible, staff member very rude and food way over priced. Nothing like the old café, if you are looking to eat I would not recommend this place when there are plenty of much better places close by.

If you want to try all those fried and battered items (pizza, blackpudding, etc) that you've heard about, this is the place for you. It's a basic cafe near Saucciehall Street and you can take out or eat in with the hen nights in a brightly lit but comfortable cafe. It's nicer than it sounds and the food is fresh.

Found this little gem whilst staying in the ibis and boy I'm glad I did.it was empty(dont know why) and I had fish and chips, the thickest tastiest chips I've had and the fish lovely and crispy.wife had steak pie and thoroughly enjoyed it.its old fashioned, traditional chip cafe but give it a try, especially if visiting the kings theatre.

As a lad, this used to be my weekly pilgrimage on the way to Grants and CC Music with mate. Just introduced my two boys to the joys of fritters with brown sauce. As good as I remembered!

Visited a couple of times as it is so near the Kings Theatre and wanted something to eat before a show. The chips were fantastic, good old fashioned proper chips, served on a quirky square shaped plate. My husband had sausage and chips, his chips were in a mini wire basket on the plate. Seating area is cosy (think railway... More

Visited here recently with my Dad before going to a show in the Kings Theatre. The food served here is greasy and disgusting. Give this place a wide berth.

Fast food including meat pies, sandwiches. But nothing special or out of the ordinary except for the large number of mirrors which gives it a unique look.

Loved this place - a bit small (or rather, cosy) - but a really authentic feel to it - the food was traditional and very reasonably priced. Noted that behind the counter there was a note from a famous doctor (who could that be) so who knows who you may see if you visit.

The Kings Cafe is a Glasgow institution. Situated just off Sauchiehall Street on Elmbank Street and across the road from the Kings Theatre (Hence the name!) it has been providing fish teas to generations of Glasgow theatre goers. Under new management from 1st February 2013, a new focus is going to be put on restoring the menu to homemade classics and traditional wholesome Scottish food.Homemade soup, lasagne and macaroni cheese are now on the special boards - and the fantastic fish teas are still to be had.So whether you're looking for a soup & salad roll at lunch or an after theatre fish supper; the Kings Cafe is the Glasgow institution you should visit.
