I love this pub for the ambience, the history, the beer, the friendly staff but mainly for the characters you meet also enjoying a pint. Many of them having been left in the care of the staff while their wife's or partners enjoy some retail therapy. Fairly average bar food is on offer which is disappointing as previously they had... Great atmosphere, excellent draft beers, friendly and efficient staff - probably the best tradional pub in central Glasgow. There used to be a wonderfully inexpensive (home-cooked) menu - it was legendary for its value and tastiness. This has now been replaced by a Wetherspoon-type larger menu which includes special deals on certain days. (Please note that it is NOT part... More

A classic old boozer off the main thoroughfares in Glasgow. Decent selection of beer, decor that has been built up over the years and a host of interesting characters. Perfect for a post work pint or early evening catch up.

Great to be back after so long. Quiet this afternoon. Had a quiet pint with an old friend. Last time I was here it was standing room only. Will return soon.

Three of us ate here. We all had the soup starter followed by fish (river cobbler) and chips. We declined the pudding as we'd had enough. For £4.99 per head this represents great value as the food was very good. Service was prompt and friendly and I will certainly revisit here on my next trip to Glasgow

Maybe being a bit unfair in the title for, they may do sushi or so such but in my last trip I was just looking for a beer. I used to be a regular about 30 years ago and it looks the same. It even had my old chewing gum stuck to the same old seat. Of course not, but... More

If you are looking for pub grub at a low cost then this is your place. The menu has all the usual favourites so I'm sure you'll find something. In here you get what you pay for.

Only place you can buy a 3 course meal for £4.50. First visit for a couple of years. Long time menu has changed but food is okay for the price. Still worth a visit but don't expect too much. You get your money's worth. As always, very friendly staff.

Thank David M
