Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and delicious food. Wasn’t full but it was a Monday evening. Great place for apres-ski wind down. 👍

Stopped off here for a drink after our evening meal one night, really cool bar with an interesting selection of shots available! The food looked and smelled great also although didn’t try any on this visit, maybe next time!
We had a meal here on Hogmanay night when everywhere else was booked up. Made to feel really welcome and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had 2 lovely bar meals, scampi and a steak/ale pie. Both meals were fantastic and there...are great drink options. Would definitely recommend a meal/drinks here and we will definitely be back, thanks for the great welcome and service.More
What more can I say?… We visited on 1st January 2023, to the most heartfelt warm welcome and ‘Happy New Year’ from the lovely bubbly Manager. Staff are very attentive, explaining what foods are available. The Food!! OMG!! EVERYTHING is gorgeous, and you can seriously...tell its all home made, fresh and of good quality. We didn’t book, and were fortunate to get a lovely cosy double table. Spoke to staff, and wanted to leave a comment in a comments book… but alas, now on Trip-advisor…. We will most certainly be back! and would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant!More
We stopped in for a late lunch and enjoyed a couple of burgers. We were both in the mood for burgers but wanted to add a bit o' Scotland to the meal so we had the haggis burger and the venison burger. Both were very...good--the haggis burger adds a haggis patty to the beef patty which adds a lot of flavor to the burger. The venison was cooked just right and delicious.More
Popped in for a quick bite to eat on a cold December evening. Loved the quirky interior although it could have done with having the heating turned up a bit! Food was good, a nice selection and generous portions; however what really stood out was...the welcome we received. The lady serving was friendly and went out her way to engage with our wee boy who loved the attention. Would happy visit again when in the area.More
We liked the quirky interior of this restaurant, but felt as if we had arrived at an inconvenient time when the staff weren't really expecting anyone. Food took quite a while to arrive, the meat was overcooked while the broccoli was almost raw. And our...meals weren't hot enough. I can imagine that this is a good place to warm up after skiing and to enjoy the bar, but the food needs some improving.More
The Skiing Doo Restaurant, great as it is, holds one of Aviemore's best kept secrets, the "doo below". A traditional highland bar where on the coldest nights of the year you are guaranteed a friendly warm welcome, great beer and the same menu as the...restaurant upstairs.More
On a miserable night in Aviemore we were looking for somewhere serving a good burger! After trying two places we were told there was nowhere else open in Aviemore! We chanced our luck and ventured up to the Ski-ing Doo to be welcomed by the...lovely Katie. We were served in super quick time with drinks followed by our superb food. We had the venison burger, haggis burger and the Mac and cheese. Everything was delicious. We followed this with a home made sticky toffee pudding to share and this was the pinnacle of a fantastic meal. Well done to Katie and her new team who worked well and provided us with a first class meal and service.More
we were at the skiing doo on Saturday for a meal the first time we have been this year. we were welcomed in and shown our seats and given menus we waited for 15 to 20 mins before being asked for food and drinks we...ordered bruschetta as a started and kids fish and chip and burger for my two children. then we had ordered two of the big burgers for our mains the mad mac and the pulled pork burger. we waited an hour for our food to come and when it did we had received the mad mac burger , bruschetta (which the toast was burnt) and the two kids meals the chips for the kids meals were heavily salted. we had waited another 5 mins to see if the other burger was coming, when i approached the staff to say there is still another burger to come i was told yes i can see there is a pulled pork burger still to come i will talk to the kitchen i had also asked for replacement non salted chips for one of the kids meals. another 5 mins had passed and we were then told that due to the new kitchen staff the meal had been forgotten about and this was not the first time this had happened today, we were asked if it was ok to wait for the meal and had been offered other food while we waited and a 10% discount for the issue which we agreed too. we also received a bowl of chips for the kids to share as a replacement. 20 mins passed and the fearsome burger arrived a few bites into it and it was raw in the center much to our disappointment we returned the plate and asked for the burger just to be taken off of the bill as we did not want to wait. the front staff were more than apologetic and had once again stated that it is new kitchen staff and returned the meal too the kitchen. before we left we had overheard the waiter and front staff discussing how the cook had flown off the handle at the waiter and was being very rude. we had squared up our bill and had headed out the door upon double checking my receipt i had noticed we had been charged £5 for the replacement chips for the kids meals so i had returned to see if i could get that refunded which the front staff were more than happy to-do. overall the front staff were excellent with dealing with the whole incident but i was completely appalled by what i had heard of the kitchen staff were being like and the food they were putting out. the food and service had always been amazing but we are now under the understanding that it has had a complete new staff change from ownership and management all the way the to kitchen. will not be returning and this disappointing as the place had always been so niceMore
We came to Ski-ing Doo some years ago when our children were small, and we loved the experience. Staying in Aviemore my wife and I called in for an early supper last night and we were warmly welcomed by a very nice young woman who...I think works in the bar downstairs. We were taken to our table by a very young man who gave us a menu each and then left us to go and chat with someone. He was so engaged in conversation that my wife took to making we are ready to order looks, but the penny didn't drop, he just kept chatting. Eventfully the phone rang, and he answered it and after the call he saw us waiting and came to take our order. We ordered food and a bottle of wine, had he taken our drinks order first sooner after we had arrived, it wouldn't have been so bad, but we were just left waiting. I wanted a burger, but the burger bun was brioche, and they are too sweet for me, so I had chicken and wild mushrooms, my wife had a burger. Both meals were perfect, they were very hot and very tasty. They were also very well presented. Actually, they were five out of five on the Trip adviser scale. But there is more to the meal when dining out, it's the whole experience and this young waiter clearly is in the wrong profession. He planted our plates down without a word and started to walk away. I asked him for some ketchup, and he brought it over in a nice cutlery tray. Had he placed the meals down and told us he was bringing the cutlery and condiments it would have been alright, but he never said a word. The place was empty and then a young family came in and I started to watch the waiter and he showed little interest in them as well. He seemed to just be leaning on the bar doing nothing. At one point the music stopped, it was an 80's tape and when it stopped, I could hear an annoying buzzing above my head, it could be air-conditioning. He was so transfixed with looking at the bar that he didn't notice the music had stopped. I went over to him at the bar, and I saw what he was interested in, he was watching a video on his mobile phone. I asked him if there was a reason he had not put the music back on and he turned around put the music on and went back to his phone. As we had finished our meal, we sat drinking our wine and all I saw the waiter do was look at his phone while leaning on the bar. Soon after, he was joined by another young man who was again transfixed with phone as well. During the whole dining experience the lad clearly was not interested in his duties, if all he wants to do is watch videos on his phone he really should have stayed at home! With that level of service I wouldn't go back!More
If you are looking for food in Aviemore look no further than the Skiing Doo. We tried it for the first time and will not look back, the food was excellent, full of flavour and well priced. I recommend booking ahead as it can fill...up quite quickly. There is seating available upstairs and down and the whole place has a ski feel too it (perfect after a day on the slopes). The menu is full of your favourites and is reasonably priced with some items being pricey but for the portion size you get it is really worth it. We had the cajun chicken burger and scampi and couldnt finish them, I cant describe the food but it is delicious, definitely the best in Aviemore. If you are looking for a meal out in the evening, look no further than the Skiing Doo.More
Ate here one evening having fond memories of this place in years gone by. Sadly it wasn’t what it used to be - there was football showing in the bar and the atmosphere was lacking. Staff were friendly though. Food was okay, but definitely not...worthy of the price charged. Don’t think we’d return.More
We’ve visited three times during our holidays and it’s the best atmosphere in the town (as well as having the best beer an IPA / Lager hybrid). Lovely staff and a warm welcome along with great music which I rarely give marks for. Haven’t eaten...here but we’ve had a few drinkers a D I want to go every day it’s that goodMore
Attended here for a family meal and the food was okay. However, the service on the whole was shocking! Our first waitress who took our order was lovely, made conversation and was polite and courteous. However, once she went to carry out work in the...bar area, we had a younger waitress who was nothing but downright rude, abrupt and completely uninterested. Her attitude was appalling and work appeared to be a complete chore for her - no smile and only seemed interested to get back to her mobile phone behind the bar. When leaving the restaurant just after 2100 hours, as we walked out the door, the same waitress closed the door behind us as we literally stepped outside and locked the door, even though the closing time is listed at 2200 hours. As I say, food was okay but due to the attitude of the waitress, I certainly will not be returning.More
